Let’s Talk Vampires!
by edenbradley on Oct 5th, 2009 leave a response

Since RG and I have vampire stories coming out this month the sexy blood-suckers have been on our minds. There’s something about vampires and sex that just go hand-in-hand. The vampire’s seductive siren call, the drinking of blood…and they’re such perfect, beautiful creatures. That pale, poreless skin, their mesmerizing eyes, their superhuman powers, make them completely irresistible.

Vampires have been sex symbols from the start. From the premiere of Bela Lugosi’s Dracula in 1931 to the smokin’ hot Robert Pattinson in Twilight, to the sudden wave of television shows like True Blood and The Vampire Diaries, the mysterious vampire has long held a unique allure.

So, I was talking with my fellow Smutketeers this morning about our favorite vampires from film and television and realized how much there is to choose from! My favorite is a sort of vampire film classic, David Bowie in The Hunger. One of the best vampire movies ever! Okay, the ending is pretty cheesy, but mostly this film is dark and moody with a gorgeous sound track, and the lighting is really beautiful. (Yes, the lighting-I’m a sucker for good lighting-lol!). Of course, I love David Bowie in anything, and he makes as a beautiful vampire as he does a goblin king.

David Bowie isn’t the only hot vamp in this film, either. Catherine Deneuve is a stunning beauty, and the sex scene between her and Susan Sarandon is sensual and gorgeously shot. If you haven’t seen this film (that means you, RG!) rent it now!
So tell us-who would you want to creep through your window in the middle of the night?
And don’t forget-we’ll be running contests all month to celebrate the simultaneous release of R.G’.s vampire story and mine (I love it when we get to be dirty together). My erotic futuristic novella, THE SEEKING KISS, and R.G. Alexander’s vampire story, MIDNIGHT FALLS, Book Four in her Children of the Goddess series, will both be available from Samhain on October 20th! Until then, the person who makes the most comments on the Smutketeers posts will win a grand prize-the prize is a secret for now-watch for an announcement as our release day draws near!
Today is the first contest for our October Sucking Sexy celebration! I’ll give away a copy of my BDSM novella, BREAKING SKYE, which is part of the SURRENDER anthology from Phaze. Just post here and I’ll choose one lucky winner, to be announced tomorrow evening (that’s Tuesday night). Check back-the winner will have to contact me with their email to collect their prize. Good luck!

Great pics! And I know, I know lol-I’ll rent the film.
I JUST started to rent first season of True Blood and I have to admit-Bill is trippin’ my trigger :)
But its hard for a film actor to truly capture what I see in my mind’s eye when I read a really amazing vampire romance.
    Like Seeking Kiss. ;)

I’d say Mina Harker played by Peta Wilson in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The movie blew but she was hot.

Winona Rider in Bram Stoker’s Dracula was pretty smokin’ too. But she never quite became a vampire.

  3. 3

Hmm vampires – Gary Oldman from Bram Stokers Dracula of course, Eric from True Blood – hey I like the in denial bad boy. Hated Tom Cruise as Lestat (had to say it) Stuart Townsend was closer to Lestat than Cruise – not quite there but not so far off – but I preferred Interview with the vampire over Queen of the Damned.

my favorite vamp has never been realized on film i am now and always will be a lestat girl but i don’t like his casting on film

Johnny Depp was slotted to play him and is slotted to play the vamp from Dark Shadows later on this year, so he will prolly win my vote for favorite film vamp

I’m very fond of the Anne Rice vampires and L K Hamilton’s ones as well (in the anita blake series) particularly Ash- just pure yumminess
and my vampires in Kiss of the Rose are going to be mostly evil with a sensitive side :)

I would have to agree with Rob on Peta Wilson as Mina Harker. She was hot!

Maybe the guy from Forever Knight or from Moonlight. Both were shall we say, easy on the eyes! (I’ll say it: Bite me!)

I must say, I adore David Bowie and Eric from True Blood the show not the books. In writing, I love Kim Harrison’s Ivy and Kisten. *sigh* he’s was just dreamy, and Ivy is sexy and awesome.

Vamps are just awesome. Sexy and dangerous… yummy.

Ian Somerhalder is pulling off a sexy-as-hell Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries. But I’m biased, since Damon has been my favorite vamp ever since I first read the books in 1991. Still, I don’t think they could have picked a hotter actor to portray him. Yum!

  9. 9

Ooh Contessica, Gary Oldman-lovvved him as Dracula!
And Johnny Depp as a vampire-he can drink my blood anytime, baby. How has this not been done sooner? *swoon*

  10. 10

I had interview with a vampire on last night, muted, while I was on the phone. Frankly, all of them are fucking hot, especially when you can’t hear them. :)

  11. 11

And Edward? So not hot. Sorry.

  12. 12

Feisty, I’m with ya on that one. I don’t consider him hot at all. Maybe I am just too old!

  13. 13

So many to choose from but HELLO??? Keiffer Sutherland AND Jason Patric?!? Too much bloody hotness in one film for me and I was entirely obsessed with that movie when I was just a tot (yeah, I was 6 when it came out but it started my love for vamps back then – which horrified my parents!).
And Salma Hayek in From Dusk Til Dawn was an uber-sexy vampire stripper even though she was only in one scene.

  14. 14

I haven’t seen all that many vampire movies, but I have to agree that Winona Ryder and Gary Oldman were definitely hot vampires in Dracula. Personally, though, my favorite is Stuart Townsent as Lestat in Queen of the Damned. It probably has more to do with how much I love the soundtrack to that movie than anything else, but he would be my pick.

  15. 15

Stuart Townsend playing Lestat in Queen of the Damned can swoop down and bite me any night. Yummy! And those vamps in Lost Boys were yummy.

  16. 16

Damn, I forgot about Lot Boys!! Yummy.

  17. 17

Oh, some good ones! Yes, Stuart Townsend was lovely as Lestat-and the Anne Rice vampires are some of my favorites. And yes, the Lost Boys-mad crushes on them all!
Cherrie-I may have to tune into the Vampire Diaries-I had no idea Ian Somerhalder was in it-loved him on Lost.
Kate-love the sound of your sensitive but evil vampires-nice! I love a vampire who is a bit tortured by what they are, who struggles against their dark nature. It makes for a complex character. Maybe that’s part of the vampire mystique, particularly in romance. Because they can’t be all bad if they’re capable of love.

    Sending an email your way!

    Thank you!

To late for the contest but wanted to comment on the post ;)!

    Just loved it lol!

I missed the whole first season and 1/2 when True Blood initially aired. After being repeatedly told as a vamp fan I should be watching it, I rented the missed episodes from Netflix and a marathon. The more I watched the more it grew on me and now I’m totally hooked and dying for season 3!!

I like Billy and Jasno, but there is just something about Eric! Guess it may be his bad boy ways lol

  21. 21

Too late for today’s prize, Pam, but we’re giving away prizes every few days until our October 20th releases! Ad there will be a grand prize for the person who posts the most days between now and then-keep checking back-lots more to come!

  22. 22

The Hunger was the first time I ever thought David Bowie was hot. REALLY hot. Wow. Heck – I though Catherine Deneuve was sexy as hell too! I mean the scene between her and Susan Sarandan (aside from being a BIG deal back when the movie was released) was way hot.

My favorite Dracula was Frank Langella. He just had the presence to carry off the part. Yum. And that voice…

  23. 23

I’m at work and bored – so I’m catching up on blogs – awesome contest. Eden can’t wait for The Seeking Kiss :)
As far as who I want to creep through my window – I’ve got to say Spike & Angel. Since I can’t decide between the two I decided they could share me :)

  24. 24

    LOL-sharing is good, Greta! *G*

  25. 25

Wasn’t Gary Oldman a babe in Dracula? Those lovely curls and round spectacles. Yum!

Big congrats to Angel on her book win. One of my favorite film vamps is Blade, and from tv, Angel.

  29. 29

    Welcome, Jo K!
Hey-has anyone seen the trailers for Daybreakers? Looks like it could be either really amazing or have great visuals but be really bad. Either way I’ll be seeing it.

  30. 30

    Congrats Angel!

    Deidre

  31. 31

    Congrats Angel!
I know I’m late but I wanted to join in the fun.

I have to go with Cambria. Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patrick. Now I feel old but damn they were hot in the day.

I can’t really think of a female that I like, right off the top of my head.

    Have a great Sunday,
    Fallon H.

  32. 32

    Congrats Angel!
I’m late too! I really liked Stuart Townsend as Lestat in Queen of the Damned, Antonio Banderas as Armand in Interview with the Vampire, and Eric in True Blood. They’re all gorgeous!

  33. 33

    Jason Patric and Brad Pitt

  34. 34

    Congrats Angel!

    Nice choices, Amy!
