What’s so sexy about vampires? Sometimes those blood drinkers are too pale-traditionally they are dead-and they are often a bit arrogant. Snooty even. lol
On the plus side, you KNOW they know what they’re doing, they’d probably have some fascinating, historically accurate stories for…after…and man, do they have great soundtracks. Sexy sounds, hypnotic beats, and dark imagery that makes me long to nibble someone’s neck. NIN, Korn, and others usually spring to mind, but they aren’t the only ones to bring about those primal urges that make us want to drop our inhibitions, along with our garlic necklaces ;)
This one is my current favorite!-no doubt because I just finished watching season one-and because the song is damn sexy imo
I Wanna Do Bad Things With You-theme from Trueblood
Bloodletting-Concrete Blonde-this was my dear friend’s wedding song. She’s way cooler than I am. I danced to Frank Sinatra and Etta James lol
Though I believe Lestat’s violin scene on the beach was sexier, this vampire started his own band to make sure his message got across. Even making surreal videos. Has a bit of an ego, that one. :)
What is the song that makes you think of vampires? Share it in a post and get the chance to win any one of the three previous books from my Children of the Goddess series: Regina in the Sun, Lux in Shadow, or Twilight Guardian.
I’ll announce the winner tomorrow-Happy listening.

Back to The Hunger again…Bela Lugosi’s Dead by Bauhaus, which is used in the opening of that film, always makes me think of vampires. You can see it here:

I had no idea True Blood was so…messy-lol! Think I must watch it now…:)
They can do bad, bad things to me ANY time.
by Crystal Jordan October 7th, 2009 at 9:30 amI don’t have a song that makes me think of vampires specifically, but I would say anything by Joy Division would have that “feel” to it. Or maybe the soundtrack from The Hunger?
Good music, thanks!
by Yvette Davis October 7th, 2009 at 9:32 amFor some reason the Cure reminds me of Vampires. I have to think more about this one…
I just got the first season of True Blood in the mail. I guess I better watch it!
by Feisty October 7th, 2009 at 9:34 amThis video makes me tear up. I love this one by Annie Lennox but I don’t have the name. The you tube just has it listed as a love song for a vampire by Annie Lennox.
You can check it out here:

One More Night by Phil Collins
by Chris Roberts October 7th, 2009 at 10:51 amSelf Control by Laura Branigan. Hands down. It’s atmospheric and the lyrics capture things well,
“Oh, the night is my world
City light painted girl
In the day nothing matters
It’s the night time that flatters
I, I live among the creatures of the night
I haven’t got the will to try and fight
Against a new tomorrow, so I guess I’ll just believe it
That tomorrow never knows”
The video had a bit of the creepy and obsessive about it too. You can watch it here.

Not only that but Laura had the kind of deep raspy yet dynamic voice that could sell this song so well.
Francesca
by Francesca Hawley October 7th, 2009 at 11:08 amDefinitely Bela Lugosi’s Dead and, of course, Night Of the Vampire with Roky Erickson… I think Entombed covered it, but you want the original Roky. Also Bad Moon Rising w Creedence Clearwater Revival.
And let’s not forget Rev 22:20 by Puscifer (Maynard James Keenan). It was on the Underworld soundtrack so it’s kind of a given, lol.
And anything with Yoshikazu Mera because his voice has such a surreal beauty to it:

Sorry for the song spam. It’s not even like I think of vampires a lot.
by Felicia Holt October 7th, 2009 at 11:21 amI was just working on one of my own vampire stories and the music that always comes to mind is Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre.

What can I say? I’m an old fashioned type of guy. And Georges Belleveau, one of my vampires, loves this piece.
by Rob Graham October 7th, 2009 at 11:23 amFallon – I immediately thought of Annie Lennox’s video too – it was from the remake of Bram Stoker’s Dracula with Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder – Francis Ford Coppola directed it.
Songs from Evanescence remind me of vampires. Depeche Mode – Waiting For The Night. Echo and the Bunnymen – Killing Moon
And as an aside – Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned was such a perfect Lestat – much better than that other actor – whatshisname. LOL.
by Bethany October 7th, 2009 at 12:27 pmI don’t listen to much music, so don’t have a song that makes me think of vampires.
by Estella October 7th, 2009 at 12:32 pmOh, I *love* those songs Jonathan Davis wrote and sang for Lestat in Queen of the Damned (“Forsaken”, “Slept So Long”, etc.). I got to see him perform them all live a couple of years back. Very gothic stage setting; it was incredible. JD can be my vampire. :)
A few others:
by Cherrie Lynn October 7th, 2009 at 1:09 pm“Corrupt” by Depeche Mode
“Believer” by Viva Voce (after that incredible Damon/Caroline scene in The Vampire Diaries last week)
“Something I Can Never Have” by NIN
“If I Was Your Vampire” by Marilyn Manson
“Superbeast” by Rob Zombie
My favorite is Annie Lennox, Love Song for a Vampire. But came across this one, and love the lyrics:
Vampire Heart Lyrics by Him
You can’t escape the wrath of my heart
Beating to your funeral song (You’re so alone)
All faith is lost for hell regained
In the dust in the hands of shame (Just be brave)
Let me breathe you this song of my heart before
I lead you along this path in the dark
Where I belong ’till I feel your warmth
Hold me
Like you held on to life
When all fears came alive and entombed me
Love me
Like you love the sun
Scorching the blood in my vampire heart
I’ll be the thorns on every rose
You’ve been sent I hope (You’ll grow cold)
I am the nightmare waking you up
From the dream of a dream of love (Just like before)
Let me weep you this poem as Heaven’s gates close
Paint you my soul, scarred and alone
Waiting for your kiss to take me back home
Hold me
Like you held on to life
When all fears came alive and entombed me
Love me
Like you love the sun
Scorching the blood in my vampire heart
Hold me
Like you held on to life
When all fears came alive and entombed me
Love me
Like you love the sun
Scorching the blood in my vampire heart
Hold me (Like you held on to life)
Like you held on to life
(When all fears came alive and entombed me)
My vampire heart
Love me (Like you love the sun)
by Cathy M October 7th, 2009 at 1:30 pmLike you love the sun

My vampire heart
Those are some great songs. I especially like the last one – ‘Forsaken’ by Korn. I loved that Korn was actually in the movie as well. The scene with them made me smile.
As for additional songs that make me think of vampires, all of them from the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. It is such an awesome soundtrack that I have a hard time picking one favorite from it. Some of my favorites are ‘Forsaken’, ‘System’ by Chester Bennington, ‘Down With The Sickness’ by Disburbed, ‘Cold’ by Static-X, ‘Body Crumble’ by Dry Cell, and ‘Before I’m Dead’ by Kidney Thieves.
by Karin October 7th, 2009 at 4:04 pmRight off the bat…I remembered a song from my fave Vampire movie…Queen of the Damned…
by Anna Shah Hoque October 7th, 2009 at 4:15 pm“Forsaken” by David Draiman…
I noticed that there are a whole bunch of others who also agree with me…The Queen of the Damned sdtk KICKS ASS!!! It is stupendous!!!
Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis
Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie
Vampire Heart by H.I.M.
Fright Nights by Kung Fu Vampire
Sweet Dreams are Made of These by Marilyn Manson

by R.G. Alexander October 7th, 2009 at 7:08 pmAnd don’t worry-we’ll have several other prizes coming up in these next few weeks. :)
I also loved the soundtrack from “Queen of the Damned”. “Forsaken” was my favorite. That song just kind of stuck in my head long after the movie was over.
by annalisa October 7th, 2009 at 7:11 pmI can’t believe I forgot to mention there was an unreleased track from those Queen of the Damned sessions called “Careless”. Jonathan from Korn wrote it along with “Forsaken”, etc., but it didn’t appear in the movie. He performed it live during his solo tour. I love it, and my vampy playlist isn’t complete without it… but then I love just about everything that man does!

by Deidre October 9th, 2009 at 5:17 pmso of coarse there is korn loved that song in fact it the only reason my hubby would watch queen of the damned with me. There was a song in the movie lost boys ,damn i can’t remember the name but now the song is stuck in my head, it had a sax in it.
by jennifer mathis October 13th, 2009 at 12:02 pmMusic, vampires and sexy! Okay, those three words have led me straight to the movie ‘Queen of the Damned’. That movie has some darn sexy music in it.
There’s one song in particular, that get’s my vampy juices flowing and gets me in ‘the mood’ — The song from the rose-petal bath and Lestat getting bitten by the Queen. HELLO!
That song is: Deftones — Change
BUT….
by Jo K October 17th, 2009 at 10:14 amSweet Dreams by Marylin Manson is a pretty good vampy song too!
