Wicked…Sexy…!
by R.G. Alexander on Jan 26th, 2010 19 Comments »

Today R.G.’s latest smokin’ hot paranormal erotic romance WICKED SEXY is out from Samhain, and to celebrate, I’m interviewing her! I’ll try to behave…sort of…*G*

Eden: So RG…another hot menage! You do seem to like the multiple partner thing. Care to share?

RG: Um…Well, I think menage, both m/f/m and m/m/f, are some of the most erotic, and most intriguing relationships to write about. The dynamics, the emotion…and lets face it, the sex, are all amplified when you are struggling with three (or four) very distinct personalities. Plus it’s hot. Not that I fantasize about it or anything. Is my husband reading this? lol

Eden: Let’s assume your husband is not reading this… If you were to have a menage with any two famous people, who would they be?

RG: That’s hard. I think I have more than one group. One includes Gerard Butler and Angelina Jolie. The other  Hugh Jackman and my husband. (What? He’s famous. He wrote a cookbook.)

Eden: Hot!!!!! (I’ve met your husband, just sayin). That explains why you keep writing menage, because who can stop at just one?
(What to do? What to do…Shall I let the Angelina Jolie comment pass, or not?) Hmmm…Next question. I just wrote f/f/m menage (my book THE LOVERS will be out from Spice in January 2011). Would you ever write f/f? Why or why not?

RG: Angelina Jolie is in my top five women I’d make an exception for (all of the Smutketeers are in there as well of course lol) As far as f/f,  I love women, but for some reason I’ve been utterly fascinated by m/m lately. The power struggle etc. I think there is no question that if a character walked into my head and wanted to be with her best girlfriend instead of the hot neighbor guy, I’d be all for it. I just haven’t gotten there yet. Oh and The Lovers rocks people. Put it on your TBR list.

Eden: Thanks for the pimpage…:)
All of this menage talk as put me in the mood. Give us a tantalizing peek at WICKED SEXY!

RG:

Blurb:

Something magic this way comes…

Wicked ³, Book 1

Callie has always known the Abbotts were different. Witches, though they call themselves “Magians”. They are her second family. Harrison Abbott has been her best friend since they were children. Tucker Abbott, her life-long crush. And their brother, Tyghe? A magical pain in her backside.

When the Abbotts need her human perspective to solve a mystery, she doesn’t hesitate. Especially since it means getting everything she ever wanted. A chance to be one of them, to have magic, even if it’s only temporary.

Someone is attacking young women at Triune, a ritual that helps Magians find their perfect threesome—the match that will complete their magic and their hearts. Callie expected to be dazzled by her first glimpse into the Magian world, but the bone-melting desire between her and the Abbott brothers isn’t part of the plan.

Nor is the decades-old secret that makes her the target of a killer…

Warning: Explicit sex, magical dresses, mind-reading rooms and mind-boggling threesomes.

EXCERPT

She came out of the changing room, trying to take a breath in the skin tight cat-suit that was, according to her witchy pal, all the rage for the modern, fashion-conscious Magian. Or prostitutes.

A woman with teased hair the color of a ripe mango came forward with her hands raised. “Ohhh, Miss Callie. Now that outfit makes a statement. No man will be able to resist you.”

“I won’t be able to resist them either, since I can hardly move,” Callie grumbled, causing Harrison to snort some of her peach margarita up her nose. Callie stuck out her tongue. “You deserve it, cousin. You no longer get to pick out what I’m trying on. By the way, I don’t see you parading around in any of these outfits. Do I get my turn to chuckle at your expense?”

“I’d love to wear something like that. But Mom insists I wear the dress she wore, the dress her mother wore etcetera, etcetera. I’ll look old-fashioned and ridiculous. You’ll definitely chuckle.” Hannah smiled at the saleslady hovering beside them. “Madame Aubrey? I think Callie would like something a little softer. Something a little less revealing.”

Madame Aubrey tapped her chin, tilting her head as she studied Callie’s body. “I think I have just the thing for the discerning connoisseur. It’s our newest arrival. Enchanted to perfectly match the wearer’s personality.”

“Now that should be interesting.”

Oh God. Could this get any worse? She held in her stomach. “What are you doing here, Tyghe? I thought this place was females only.”

He smiled at Madame Aubrey as she passed him slowly with a curious grin. He turned to Callie, looking her up and down. His gaze narrowed on the plunging neckline that made her breasts look two sizes bigger than they were. She crossed her arms and glared, but he only quirked his lips. “They make an exception for me. I’m very…generous with my female friends. I may have to buy that for you, Callie. As long as you promise to wear it only in the bedroom. And only for me.”

Harrison stood. “I’m suddenly nauseouss. I think I need another margarita, maybe a few straws to shove in my ears.”

Callie watched her follow the eavesdropping saleswoman out the door, grumbling under her breath at her best friend’s abandonment.

Tyghe shut the door, eating up the distance between them with long, swift strides. He leaned close to her ear, gripping her arms when she started to move away. Callie inhaled sharply at the jolt of electric energy zapping through her at the contact. She could almost hear the sizzle.

His grey eyes darkened. Had he felt it too? “Just doing my job, sweetheart. Madame Aubrey knows me, knows I only show up when I want something. Someone. Now she’ll tell everyone in the salon that I want you. But you have to do your part. This illusion only works if you pretend you want me, Callie, just a little.” He caressed her bare arms, his gaze on her lips. “The passion between Magian matches is not a subtle thing. It is powerful. Undeniable. Electric. If I’m one half of your match, you won’t be able to stay away from me, just as I won’t be able to stay away from you…especially before we find our third and join together officially.”

Callie’s breath came faster. His touch was taking away her ability to think. Had he ever touched her before today? No. Surely not. She would have remembered the sparks, the intensity. Unless it was a part of Harrison’s spell. Her magic, such as it was, reacting to his.

She licked her lower lip, and Tyghe groaned. “We should practice. Pretend you can’t keep your hands off me, Callie. I’ll make it easy on you. Pretend I’m Tucker.”

Her mouth opened to protest and he was there, tongue tangling with hers, lips opening hers wider, taking more, taking everything. Callie closed her eyes and saw swirls of violet and silver sparks burst to life behind her lids.

Tyghe Abbott was kissing her.

Eden: This sounds hot, hot, hot! Another thing you write a lot of is paranormal. Why do  you think paranormal is fun to write and fun for the readers?

RG: I have always wanted superpowers. Or to fall in love with a Werewolf. Or to travel back in time and discover the truth about a million questions I have. I believe in and love the possibilities. I am just drawn to the magical aspects of things, the miracles and the what ifs. Love is magic,a little supernatural. We can’t prove its there, it just is. And it shows up in the most unusual places. As far as why readers like it-Who doesn’t want an immortal vampire who’s spent thousands of years going through women like bottles of wine and having a giant chip on his shoulder suddenly fall for the innocent yet sassy schoolmarm? Thats my idea of a good time.

Eden: What are you working on right now? And tell us about your upcoming releases-I know you have a few.

RG: Right now I’m finishing up my part in the Smutketeer anthology for Samhain-WASTELAND. I do have a lot coming out this year. More of my Wicked series, MY SHIFTER SHOWMANCE-which is Book 1 of my Shifting Reality series, I have a contemporary in the works and then my Berkley book POSSESS ME comes out in August. So…really busy year. I’m excited.

Eden: I’m excited too! And our readers will be excited about today’s giveaway! Tell us about the contest.

RG:I’m giving away any book from my backlist to three (homage to menage) posters! Spread the word by posting about the release of WICKED SEXY on Facebook, Twitter or your blog, then post here and tell me where you’ve talked about it- I will pick my own special threesome tomorrow afternoon!
Thanks for the interview, it feels a little weird to be on this end of things. Am I going to have to answer the boxers or briefs question now?

Eden: Yes! Boxers or briefs baby?

RG: Boxers. lol or Commando. :)

Pimpin’ the The Magnifique Jax Cassidy!
by edenbradley on Jan 10th, 2010 19 Comments »

The fabulous Jax Cassidy is here today to talk about her latest book, BRUSH STROKES, available now from Amber Quill Press! This is a hot, sensual read, so we’re happy to help her pimp it. Jax is a dear friend of the Smutketeers-a pint-sized power-house who writes, paints, designs websites and is never afraid to tell it like it is. She’s also the co-founder of Romance Divas, the award-winning writer’s resource website and discussion forum where the Smutketeers all met. If we didn’t love her anyway, we’d love her just for that! She’s also a hot little vixen, so be sure to check out her website to see for yourself!

Jax is running a contest today, too, so read her interview and check for details at the end!

~Welcome to the Smutketeers, Jax! We’ve missed you! We know you’ve been busy, busy, busy, and are here to tell us about your latest release, BRUSH STROKES, so give us a little peek…

I’m totally excited to be here! In more ways than one. ;) I’m even wearing my favorite leopard print D&G lingerie for just this occasion.

Can I just say how thrilled I am that BRUSH STROKES found a good home? I wrote this story a little over a year ago and it’s possibly one of my favorites ever. It’s a piece that just flowed as soon as the idea popped into my head. I could see the entire passionate love story between these two characters, down to the little details. I’m all for love at first sight so I hope there’s a believability factor. :)

Don’t be shocked but I’m not actively involved in an alternative lifestyle, although it was very titillating to delve into the research. It actually all started sometime in July 2008 when I received a book called NAUGHTY PARIS: A Ladies Guide to the Sexy City by the author Heather Stimmler-Hall. Let me tell you, it’s such a wonderful, refreshing guidebook for women and showcases all the sensual places that can be found in Paris. Of course, since I had previously lived in the City of Light, it was interesting to discover all the things I missed out on. One of the sections featured an elusive underground sex club and I immediately fell in love with the images on the pages, and swirling in my head.

You can find a brief excerpt of BRUSH STROKES on my website www.jaxcassidy.com

~We writers tend to get attached to certain stories, and sometimes to a scene or a line. Is there one in BRUSH STROKES you’re particularly in love with?

Gosh, I’m kind of a dork when it comes to the hero and heroine finally getting things right in their relationship. I’m not going to give anything away, so you’re going to have to purchase the eBook to find out for yourself. ;)

~You’re a rockin’ cover artist-did you do the cover for BRUSH STROKES yourself? Tell us where we can see your other cover art.

Awww, thanks Eden.

I would have to say for this cover I knew exactly what I wanted and worked very closely with the cover artist to help me translate my ideas. I’m very pleased with the end result. Thanks, Trace! He’s always fantastic to work with.

As for my own cover work, I have some of samples available on my design site www.jaxadoradesign.com. Yes, it’s long overdue for an update but I’ll get to it after deadlines…

~You write in multiple genres: contemporary, paranormal, urban fantasy…do you have a preferred genre, or does it just depend on the way a story idea hits you?

I enjoy the diversity of genres but the underlying theme is the love connection between the characters. I adore contemporaries and I think I’ll never stop writing them just because they’re so much fun. Somehow there’s always a dark edge to them because my hero/heroines are so tortured. I just don’t know why there’s always the funny bits of dialogue that manages to creep in….perhaps I believe laughter is the best way to hide the pain.

~How integral is romance in your erotic work? Can you write erotic without the romance? Do you have a particular philosophy behind it?

Romance is a ‘must’. I love HEA and personally feel it’s a prerequisite! I’m sure I can write erotic without the romance but I really don’t want to write them unless I have to. Call me old fashioned but I believe the lovemaking aspect describes the importance of the act. Secondly, impact is what I hope to achieve in the love scenes.

Although a total tomboy, I grew up believing in fairytales and finding Prince Charming. I don’t expect anything less. Why should I? Naturally my stories would contain a hint of the fairytales in my head. Erotic romance is an escape and I’m hoping readers will go with it, hopefully seeing that my writing comes from a romantic place in my heart.

~We’ve met your significant other-and adore him, you lucky girl! How does being in love inspire your work?

Writing about love when you’re not in love is like an actor pretending to act. A writer is very much their writing. I don’t think I really knew what the hell I was writing when it came to down to it—it’s all an illusion that you hope your readers won’t notice. However, when I truly fell in love with ‘the one’, everything changed! The moment it happened for me, I found my writing voice. Now the actor who has prepared, trained, and rehearsed is ready for their big moment. Truthfully my writing voice was there all along but I was too preoccupied to see it. All it took was Mr. Right to open my eyes to this truth.

~We writers are a sensitive bunch. Do you have a special writing ritual or habits? Or are you one of those few who can sit down anywhere with your laptop and write?

Don’t hate me, but I’m one of those people who can sit down anywhere and write. I tune everything around me out. However, I can also be easily distracted so I have to really feel the writing to write. I enjoy writing under pressure because my stories are more organic and I seem to be able to produce more while stressed.

~You lived in Paris for several years (we actually didn’t hate you before but we just might have to now! *G*), and we know readers would love to know what that was like. Was the city as romantic as people say it is? What was your favorite thing about living in Paris?

Gosh, it all seems like a dream. I remember EVERYTHING about Paris. It’s truly one of those breathtaking cities where the architecture is unbelievably gorgeous, where fashion reigns, where the food is to die for, and where everything feels— and is so intimate. I would immerse myself in the lifestyle and would often take long walks along the cobblestone paths. I could never get enough of those patisseries, cafes, and shops. It’s like walking in a dream and I think I must have pinched myself every day to make sure I was really there. I often miss Paris and someday I’d like to have a place there again. In fact, I want to catch a plane now!

~How do you think your extensive travels have affected your writing?

Every writer should travel. There’s something magical about visiting familiar and unfamiliar places. It’s a grand adventure and wherever you manage to be, there’s something amazing you can take away from it. I’m a visual person and I absorb the bits and pieces to draw for my readers. I want them to see, taste, and touch what I’ve experienced and writing is a great way to take the person with you on these trips. Travel is enriching and it’s food for your soul. If you never go out into the great unknown, you’re missing out on all the beauty that this world has to offer.

~Name three of your favorite movies of all time:

You know I’m a huge movie buff…this is a tough one.

I’d have to say Pride & Prejudice, Ever After, and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

~Tell us what else we can see from you this year. What are you working on now?

BRUSH STROKES is the first release of 2010 and I don’t have any other releases this year. Although, I have plans on writing a few more short stories that will hopefully come out later in the year, I’ve mainly been focusing on a paranormal series, two contemporary romances, and a YA paranormal series. Crossing my fingers that everything will fall into place and I’ll be back at the Smutketeers to talk about them!

And now for a few rapid-fire questions:

~Boxers or briefs? Boxers
~Cold beer or girly drink with a li’l pink umbrella? Ice cold beer
~Lounging on the beach in Fiji or backpacking in Nepal? Both
~Jeans and a cute T or cocktail dress and heels? Jeans and a cute T and heels :)
~Quickie in the shower or make-out at the movies? Definitely quickie in the shower
~Tattoos or piercing? Tattoos
~Hugs or kisses? Kisses (I’m a tramp)
