RG the Smutty X-mas Elf: I’m poking my head in to say…SURPRISE!! The big announcement we’ve been hinting at–the one to kick off this year’s 12 Dirty Days of Xmas–is here! Right there — —> Our foursome (or four and a half-some if you count Eden’s alter-ego) is growing!! I call her Sticky Bun, but you should recognize her author name. The Smutketeers have known and loved her for years, and we wanted her. I mean, really wanted her *wink* She belongs on our smutty steampunky dirigible, and we are so glad we seduced her…um convinced her to join us. So give her a warm Smutkedette welcome! We should sing and give stuff away now. :)
The First Dirty Day Of X-mas, From Smutketeers To You
A Brand New Smutketeer To Looooove.
Karen: Good morning everybody! You don’t know how excited I am to be the newest Smutketeer! When the lovely ladies here asked me if I wanted to join them I didn’t even hesitate. Who doesn’t want to be a part of all the smutty fun? Besides the fact I also consider these four wonderful women my friends…
So let me introduce myself. My name is Karen Erickson and I write mostly contemporary, very sexy (most of the time erotic) romance. Shall I give you the proper professional rundown? I’ve been published since 2006 with various e-publishers including Cobblestone Press and Ellora’s Cave though for the last few years I’ve been exclusively with Samhain. I’m spreading my wings for 2011 – I’ll have an erotic contemporary paranormal coming out with Loose Id (sexy fallen angels who are tattoo artists! Yum!) in April and a hot historical novella out with Carina Press in June (the first of what I’d like to call my Merry Widows series). I’m both excited and nervous about these upcoming releases…
On a personal note I live in central California in the foothills below Yosemite. I’m married and we have three children (16, 7 & 6), three cats, one dog, five chickens, a (mean) rooster and two wild turkeys who’ve decided living with the chickens is a good deal (safety! free food!). So if you hear me talk about the two coyotes who won’t stop coming around or the raccoons who keep eating my cats’ food, well, I live in the country. It’s kinda crazy around these parts. LOL
Can I tell you about my new print book out today? Playing With Fire features two stories originally released in ebook format from Samhain – Forbidden and Tangled. Here’s blurbage:
Forbidden
Michaela thinks her attraction toward her bisexual roommate is futile but Austin is most definitely interested. The chemistry between them is too strong to deny and soon they’re indulging in a scorching-hot affair. Michaela trusts him enough to share her darkest fantasy but is Austin willing to share?
Tangled
Scarlett’s always wanted what she can’t have. Her crush Drake isn’t interested, he’s hot for Trevor. But the gorgeous Trevor wants her. Taking him up on his offer, one night with Trevor ends up being the hottest sex of Scarlett’s life. Inviting Drake into the picture only makes it hotter. Now Trevor’s not so sure he wants to share…
Oh yes, this is a smokin’ hot book – I really love these two stories. And I’m giving away a copy of Playing With Fire TODAY to one lucky commenter (Limited to US residents only please) along with some chocolate body paint! Naughty naughty…and delicious!
I also have a hot little short story available on Amazon Kindle – A Very Sexy Christmas. At 99 cents, it’s a bargain!
Dumped by her loser boyfriend and attacked by a wayward Christmas figurine, stressed out Claire is knocked unconscious one night while decorating her apartment. Next thing she knows she’s in bed with a gorgeous, sexy man–one who offers to fulfill her every sexual desire. And she’s not about to turn him down.
She wakes up the next morning to discover it was all a dream. Or was it? Disappointed, Claire decides to lose the Scrooge attitude and embrace her inner holiday spirit. And just maybe all her Christmas dreams will come true…
I have one more release before 2010 leaves us forever. It’s the second novella in my Fated series – Baby, Don’t Lose My Number, coming December 21st from Samhain:
Never press the “ignore” button on love…
Fated, Book 2
In t
hese uncertain times, Mia Skinner’s Blackberry is her lifeline to independence…and a twenty-four/seven chain to her overbearing boss. When she loses it on a girls’ night out, it’s a disaster with pink slip written all over it—until she takes a chance and calls her number. And ends up talking to Mr. Sexiest-Voice-Alive.
The moment Jacob Miller lays eyes on the phone’s beautiful owner, a bolt of lust makes him want to make a sexy mess of her tidy outfit and perfectly straight hair. Which is a good sign. It means he’s almost fully recovered from a near-debilitating construction accident. Perhaps a little horizontal healing will get him back on his feet for good.
As their passion burns bright and hot, a funny thing happens. Mia’s ignoring her phone—and Jake’s the one itching to get back to work. But he’s building a plan that’ll let her hang up on her increasingly creepy boss for good. If Mia’s willing to meet him in the middle.
You can find my website here. Join me on Facebook or sign up for my newsletter!
Okay, whew, I feel like I just rambled on and on but I had a lot to share! Don’t forget to leave a comment – someone will win a copy of Playing With Fire and sexy dice! Ooh, la la.
Now let’s discuss what we want for Christmas. Besides jewels and furs (this is my standard answer to my husband every year when he asks – though I really don’t want a fur unless it’s faux), what I really, really want for Christmas is…an iPad. Oh man I want one I want one I want one! Hopefully Santa comes through for me.
What do YOU want? And hey if you have any questions for me please don’t hesitate to ask! I’m here at your mercy today! But be kind…or naughty. Let your mood guide you…heh heh.

by jennifer mathis December 7th, 2010 at 6:11 ammeandi09@yahoo.com
Karen, it is so cool you are joining the group. We are almost neighbors, I live near Sacramento. What I want for Chirstmas is to have my oldest son home for the holiday. I hope he makes it but since he works retail I’m not holding my breath. I love the teasers from your books, my kindle is about to be fed, again. Thanks a lot. Again, welcome.
by Pam December 7th, 2010 at 6:12 amWELCOME!! So happy for you that you have the privileged to join this lovely group of ladies. Do I smell a new photo shoot coming on with all the smutty goodness? ;) LOL
by Ivelisse December 7th, 2010 at 6:31 amBe prepared for all the Smutkedettes crazy antics, especially the first commentator I heard that KittyKelly is a wild one heehee, love her to death though.
I loved My Favorite Mistake, those friends turn lovers story get me all the time mainly because I can relate. Can’t wait to read ALL your other stuff.
What I want for Christmas is CASH!! lol to buy my plane ticket to LA for RT 2011.
Haha my work has this blog blocked as porn if only they knew. Lol
by Kelly Thrash December 7th, 2010 at 6:38 amIve you are so bad!! One of the many reasons I love you ;)
I totally didnt think. I’d like a ton of cash so I could go to RT in 2011. I’m pretty sure that’s not gonna happen so I’ve started my fundraising for RT 2012 :)
I’m the same, I do not know what I really want for Christmas. Since I love to cook I really want the Kitchenaide mixer or a ereader. I’ve been dropping hints too. LOL
by kimmie lange December 7th, 2010 at 6:40 am@ Kelly – you know I am very bad, that is why I get spankings from time to time
by Ivelisse December 7th, 2010 at 6:46 amI would gladly contribute to that fundraiser.
Thanks everyone for the welcome! And I must agree with everyone’s Christmas gift wishes. Cash, iPads, gift cards for more books…those things are always on my wish list!
Pam where are you at? I grew up in Redding. Lived in Sacramento (Citrus Heights) for a year while I went to college. I really hope your son makes it home for Christmas. I worked retail so I understand. My brother manages a store so we rarely see him during the holidays.
by Karen Erickson December 7th, 2010 at 7:37 amWooooooooo!!!! Karen!!!! I’m thrilled to see that you’ll be part of the smutty fun here! I’ve so loved the chance to chat with you in the Cafe, and am very excited that you’ll be around here, too! *shamefacedly admitting that my visits to your blog have been infrequent*
Crossing my fingers for you that Santa’s a good listener this year ;) My husband’s got an iPad, and he only infrequently gets to use it… the entire family clamors for their turns :)
On my list of course–more books ;)
by Fedora December 7th, 2010 at 7:50 amI would love to have a Kindle or just one of the new e readers. I still have to use my computer for e books. Your new books are going on my TBR list.
by Andrea I December 7th, 2010 at 8:22 amWelcome, Karen!
I’d like a Kindle since I have about 80-90 kindle books stored on my computer.
I just hate the fact Amazon has a quasi monopoly since the kindle only takes a format you can buy at Amazon and other ebook sellers have regular promotions on epub and pdf versions. (If I’m wrong on this and the kindle takes other formats, pls. let me know kindle owners.)
by Anne December 7th, 2010 at 8:51 am@ Anne – the Kindle sure does take other formats:
by Ivelisse December 7th, 2010 at 8:58 amKindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, Audible (Audible Enhanced (AA, AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML, DOC, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.
I hope that helps. Usually when you go to other sites to buy books other than amazon it will either be MOBI, PRC or PDF. When you win ebooks the authors usually send the prc or pdf formats.
Okay everyone I must be off to get my hair cut and colored but I’ll be back soon! Gotta look pretty for my debut day right? LOL
Keep the comments coming!
by Karen Erickson December 7th, 2010 at 9:00 amYaaaaaaaaaaaay! I’m so glad we can finally spread the news. I’ve been about to pop trying to keep it secret while we plotted the big reveal.
I’m going to go change the Smutketeers sidebar now to update our awesome new Smut stuff. Woot!
by Crystal Jordan December 7th, 2010 at 9:46 amwhat i would like for x-mas is that the foster donkey i have finds his forever home. i rehab and foster donkeys for a rescue and Jak Jak came in with chemical burns to his private areas. he a sweet 14 year old boy looking for a home to give him TLC.
by Erika Williamson December 7th, 2010 at 10:12 amIn a perfect world, I want an E-reader or an iPad. Realistically, one of those PowerMat charging pad things (& for my credit card to stop whimpering & cowering when I try to use it…LOL).
by Courtney S December 7th, 2010 at 10:21 amGift cards and books are always at the top of my list every Christmas!

I really, really wanted to be able to give my hubby the IPAD he’s been talking about for months, and I did it! The very best present will be the look on his face when he opens it on Christmas morning.
by Cathy M December 7th, 2010 at 2:05 pmKaren, I’m sure you can give as good as you get tonight! I can’t be there at tonight’s chat, but I know it’ll be a fabulous time! ;) Besides, NOTHING can rattle Sticky Bun, right? :D
by Fedora December 7th, 2010 at 2:47 pmCongrats on joining the smutty group! For Christmas I’d like Amazon gift cards. I’m debating on asking for the HTC Surround phone. Not quite sure I want it yet tho.
by Connie T December 7th, 2010 at 3:16 pmUm…did we say hazing…? I meant…er…welcoming! Yes, that’s it…(someone hide the whipped cream and the gag).

Hey Karen! Glad that you’ve joined the Smutketeers. And congratulations on the new releases, print and otherwise.
We’re practically neighbors. I live in Sacramento and used to work in Stockton.
As for what I want for the holidays: some kind soul to pay off all of my credit cards. Since I know that’s not happening, I’m good for Amazon gift cards. Amazon sell everything . . . including BoBs.
by Milinda December 7th, 2010 at 8:34 pmHow awesome is that?? All my favorite people all on one website!!!
by Kate Pearce December 7th, 2010 at 8:39 pmCongrats on your new releases.. I am so happy for you.
by Aimee Hwang December 7th, 2010 at 9:03 pmIs it overly cheesy that the thing I want most for Christmas is to see my family? It’s true regardless, I don’t see them but a couple of times a year.
Aside from that, books and new jeans.
by Lauren December 7th, 2010 at 9:32 pmCecile you asked a question, yay! I’d love an iPad and I always appreciate gift cards, especially to book stores or even Target! I heart Target…
Milinda another neighbor! How very cool.
Thanks again everyone for stopping by and the kind comments – and sharing with us what you wish for Christmas. I loved reading everyone’s answers.

Welcome Karen. Those are some great sounding books.
by Beth C. December 8th, 2010 at 1:29 amWhat I’d really love to get this Christmas is a winning lottery ticket so I could buy all the great books that I want and remodel a room in the house to serve as a library/reading room.
A gift certificate to Borders or BN. Also a new job would be nice.
by Lindsey Ekland December 8th, 2010 at 5:18 amGreetings, Karen and welcome!
What do I want?? A year with no drama, to be able to spend more time with my parents, and for their good health.
My question is do you work with one particular cover artist? How long does it take to create a cover? Your book covers are wonderful.
Thanks.
by Tracey D December 8th, 2010 at 6:01 amCongrats on joining the blog and your releases (I’ve added to the TBR pile this morning).
For Christmas I want the Sherlock Holmes soundtrack. The music is really quirky and speaks to my muse.
by Sasha Devlin December 8th, 2010 at 6:55 amAfshan if my iPod died on me I’d be sad…I really hope you get one for Christmas!
Yay another question! Tracey, I just happen to luck out in the cover dept. I don’t work with one specific cover artist though I do like to ask for the same one if it’s a series (for instance, Angie Waters did both Under My Umbrella and Baby, Don’t Lose My Number and I think she did a fantastic job. The covers have a similar feel that tells a reader they’re linked).
Thanks for stopping by! And ooh Sasha the Sherlock Holmes soundtrack? I should go check it out…..
by Karen Erickson December 8th, 2010 at 7:17 amThanks for your reply Ivelisse! I’ll have to put the Kindle on my wishlist.
by Anne December 8th, 2010 at 10:28 amWelcome Karen! Sorry I missed everything yesterday, but a nasty bug is making its way through our house

Chocolate is delicious :) I so looking forward to more of yours! You have lots coming! OH i so would love an IPad too!
