Eden/Eve: Today we have with us the fabulous Lacy Danes-she’s gorgeous, talented, and sweet, and the author of some of the hottest smut around! She’s celebrating the release of her Samhain book, HOUSE OF SIN, out today from Samhain! The cover is gorgeous, don’t you think? Let’s all give her a big Smutketeer welcome-cocktails and spankings for everyone!

Lacy Danes: I am so delighted to be here at the Smutketeers today!
Eden sent me these fun questions to answer and I thought what a great way to start off my post and let you all get to know a bit about me. Who is Lacy Danes?
Beer or girly drink with an umbrella? Beer… though my favorite is a great vodka martini with marinated sweet peppers instead of olives.
Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate! What is vanilla??
Red corvette or dashing steed? Red Corvette.
Exciting evening out at the best restaurant followed by the newest nightclub or romantic evening in with a glass of wine by the fire? Wow that is hard-I LOVE both but if I have to choose, romantic evening in with a glass of wine by the fire.
Boxers, briefs or commando? I love those tight boxer/brief combo undies on a guy!
Vacation on a tropical beach or wintry mountain cabin? Tropical beach.
(Eden interrupts to say me, too!)
Rock concert or symphony? Again I love both but more often I do the rock concert.
Hugs or Kisses? Oh! There is nothing more intimate, insightful and delicious than a kiss.
Rope or Chains? ROPE!!!! Oh My!!! ROPE! :-D
(Eden interrupting again to say that I already knew this about you, but it’s always fun to see you melt at the mere mention of rope…*G*)
Steak or sushi? Love both, but Sushi does top steak.
New shoes or new jewelry? I love to buy new shoes myself. And receive new jewelry. ;-)
Spanker or spankee? Spankee.

2011 has started out so fabulously and what better way to celebrate than with friends and a new book release. House of Sin is one of my favorite stories I have written. I have read a lot of classic Victorian erotica but I had never written a story set in the Victorian period. This was my first attempt at the period and I really enjoyed it!
Here is the blurb about the story and you can read part of the first chapter HERE.
Her most important duty—serve the master’s pleasure.
Emily’s dreams are simple: a life of dedicated service at a respectable estate, and a strong marriage filled with love and devotion for one man. Portage Place, the manor where her parents apprenticed, seems the perfect place to start. Though it is whispered that all is not as it seems behind its grand façade.
The rumors, it turns out, ring with truth. The halls are saturated with sensuality, desire and lust. Despite the scandalous duties she is asked to perform, she is determined not to stumble on what could be her first step toward her dreams. Dreams that, lately, have included the manor’s fiery haired groomsman.
A promise to watch over his younger half-brother brought Adam to Portage Place. For the first time in five years of enjoying the delights of the manor’s unbridled debauchery, Emily’s innocence touches the protector that still lives deep in his core. This house of sin may have ruined him, but he will see to it that it doesn’t ruin her.
It seems, however, that behind every door lurks a conspiracy to bind Emily in velvet chains of desire. Until the only way out is for Adam to take the biggest risk of all…
~~~~~
Most of my stories start out with a scene from the book coming to me in a dream. House Of Sin started out just that way.
Here is a snip from the scene that came to me first…
EXCERPT:
Sibila sat back on her heels, and her sensuous blue eyes fluttered open. “My turn, Adam.”
“Indeed it is, but let us involve Miss Grey.” He extended his hand to Sibila and helped her to rise to her feet. “Miss Grey.” His emerald eyes, a sliver engulfed by passion, captured her.
May lightning strike me still! Emily’s eyes widened, and her stomach flipped. The desire in those eyes immobilized her and unwantedly inspired a deep repressed part of her soul. In that exact instant, she wanted him to desperately want her. She glanced at Sibila and then back to him.
His gaze swept her body and settled on her hands in a wave of heat. His eyes shone with that desire. Could he be her one love?
Silliness, Emily, silliness. No other person can enter one’s soul with a stare, and he was futtering another. Still—she ripped her gaze to Sibila, hoping for some gesture to bring her back to reality. There was something about Adam.
“What did you have in mind, Adam?” Sibila grinned at Emily and winked.
Winked! As if all this were an acceptable existence. Sibila was scandalous…and wanton…and, well, intriguing. If Emily were to survive and keep her innocence in this house, she needed to know more, and Sibila seemed happy to trust her, show her and be her confidant. Her stomach filled with flutters.
“I would like Miss Grey to place me into your sheath.”
Emily closed her eyes. That required her to act. Fortitude. She reopened them.
“What a delightful and a wonderful first experience for her.” Sibila’s blue eyes danced with mischief. “Don’t you think, dearest Emily?”
“Ummmm.” She would have to touch him and her. Her heart lodged in her throat. The words simply would not form to express the myriad emotions that swirled in her. Fear of losing her innocence and her dreams. Fear of losing her post, and curiosity of what this act entailed with Adam. The contradictions.
She stared at Adam’s peg, and her tongue slid out and nervously wet her lips. Heat as warm as the sun outside blazed to her cheeks, and her stomach flipped. No matter how wrong it was, the desire to touch him pulsed through her. She could not admit out loud to her longing, but touching was not the full act. She would still be a virgin when she walked out of the stall. She should embrace this moment and touch him.
~~~
You can purchase House Of Sin at Samhain, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.
And now on to the contest!
If you would like to win a copy of one of my books-either this one, or one of my others-just post an answer to this questions on this thread.
Do you believe in Love at first sight? And if so, has it ever happened to you?
On January 12th at 9pm PST I will randomly select one winner from the answers.
Hugs to all of you and thanks again Smutketeers for having me over for a visit.

I like the idea of love at first sight but I have never experienced it. I’ve seen others who seemed to have lived it and loved it :) I did fall fast for my hubby not not at first sight lol

by Kelly Thrash January 11th, 2011 at 4:33 amMy hubby is my first and only love but we were friends first. I do believe in love at first sight though as some of my family members found their partners that way.
Tamsyn
by Tamsyn January 11th, 2011 at 5:07 amI believe that two people who are meant to be together have a certain chemistry and if they meet it can be love at first sight. However I believe that in order to recognize this, those two people have to spend time together and admit it to themselves first.
by Leagh January 11th, 2011 at 8:09 amI totally believe in love at first sight!! I can still remember EXACTLY where my hubby was standing, what he was wearing, even the look on his face – even though the first time I saw him was like a bazillion years ago when I was 14, and I was wasted at the time *snicker* Ah L’Amour *sigh*
by Bonnie H January 11th, 2011 at 9:59 amAnd this book sounds wickedly yummy – and yes Eden, I agree, the book cover is gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing, Lacy
I do! I just think that sometimes we’re too stubborn to see and/or act on it. I met my husband in a gas station and he always said that there were ‘cartoon hearts’ flying between the two of us…BUT, it took me two years to work up the courage to actually date him. :D Scared? Definitely! I was totally sure I would ruin everything if we dated. Eventually, even I gave in to myself though…and its happily ever after so far (8 years later).
by thelibraryratica January 11th, 2011 at 10:08 amYes I do believe in love at first sight. I have experienced it with my hubby. I was a clerk at a convenience store and he came in as a customer. He had me at “You’re. a hopeless romantic, aren’t you?” I have been a book junkie all my life and a romance junkie for 19 yrs. Thank you Lacy for an awesome interview and the chance to win.
by Bobbie Baynard January 11th, 2011 at 10:18 amNope I do however believe in lust at first sight but I believe love is something you have to build on and just by looking at someone you can’t really see all the facts of their personailty to know that that is someone you can mesh well with
by Jennifer Mathis January 11th, 2011 at 10:37 amYes i do. it happened to me when i met my husband of almost 19 years. We were both in the Army and i was a new recruit and the first gulf war was on. I got attached to his unit there and didn’t know who he was and then one day we met. We started talking and it was easy to talk to him and we got along great and it just went from there. We got married and had out first son all in the same year. lol

by Lisa B January 11th, 2011 at 10:38 amyes! even when your at a bar having fun and tell them “stop being a f(bleep) and come hang out”

by Erika Williamson January 11th, 2011 at 10:51 amLove at first sight? It could happen…I mean, why not? I’m such a romantic at heart. But is it really ‘love’ at first sight, or attraction at first sight which then grows to be love once you get to know each other? Who Knows, it’s just wonderful when there’s a HEA in real life :)
by JoAnne Kenrick January 11th, 2011 at 11:01 am[...] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Patti O'Shea and LacyDanes. LacyDanes said: Lacy Danes YAY!!! Today is 1/11/11 and that is HOUSE OF SIN RELEASE DAY! In honor of this day filled with #1's I… http://fb.me/sCs2Jjdr [...]
by Tweets that mention Smutketeers » Blog Archive » The Smutketeers Do Lacy Danes! -- Topsy.com January 11th, 2011 at 11:09 amYES I do! 25years ago my husband was in the military with my dad. When out on a 6 week military det the guys all got together to talk about and show ictires of their families. When one of the young guys saw my picture he asked if he could write me. My dad said sure, but did not call and tell me. So a while my dad was gone I received a post card in the mail from some guy I did not know. This post card said; I hope you believe in Love At First Sight, because I do and I am in Love with You! Your dad showed me you picture and i feel in love! So when we get back home I hope we can meet. Yes I though OMG I have a crazy person writing me. I was very mad at my dad for allowing this crazy guy to write me.
by Beach Melody January 11th, 2011 at 11:33 amWell a few weeks later when my dad was home we had a knock on the front door and when I opened it a very talk dark and handsome man stood in front of me. My blue eyes wide open, my heart fluttering, I new I was in Love! It turned out to be the very man that sent me the post card, and from that day on we have been together. That was over twenty five years ago and we have been married now for 25 years!
Congrats on the new release Lacy.
It sounds like a great book.
I don’t believe in love at first site..I do lust at first site. I think you have to get to know a person to fall in love with them.
by elaing8 January 11th, 2011 at 11:40 amI believe in lust at first site (yes, the spelling is intentional) and love at fast sight. When it’s right (like with DH and me) you don’t have to take years and/or live together. You make the commitment, take the plunge, and elope! Then, when people who you knew were cautious are getting divorced, you’re still going strong…growing together, making a life together, and always learning something new about the other. Love isn’t cautious – love is daring, bold, fast, and strong.
by Lilah Rune January 11th, 2011 at 11:44 amOh wow, when I started writing this, number 13 wasn’t posted! (I guess great minds think alike.) But I will say, I am sorry for not congratulating Lacy on her new release! Congratulations Lacy! And I agree with number 13, it does sound like a great book.
by Lilah Rune January 11th, 2011 at 11:46 amI always go back and forth with this. I think you can see something in someone that can eventually turn to love. I’m not sure if it’s 100% lust or love but it is something that makes you want to get to know the other.
by Danielle Gorman January 11th, 2011 at 12:27 pmHi Lacy!! I love your work and I’m so glad you cam by our blog! Also, when do I get another one of those martinis? :)
by Feisty January 11th, 2011 at 12:45 pmYes, I believe in love at first sight. My hubby and I are a product of that. We met, fell in love, married after six months…three of those we were seperated by countries…had 11 kids and after 33 years are still madly in love!!!

I’m not sure I believe in love at first sight. I think it’s more lust than love when you first meet because you have to know a person to love them.
by Jane January 11th, 2011 at 2:21 pmI have never experienced love at first sight but I am a believer because the first day my hubby meet me he went home n told his father he found the girl he was gonna marry. 21years later he always reminds me that it was love at first sight for him and that he had to convince me :) luv him for it too! Your book sounds great!!
by Dawn January 11th, 2011 at 2:22 pm@ Beach Melody – I love your story, sounds like a true romance story so sweet.
I do believe in love at first, I am just one of those romantics at heart and always daydreaming.
by Ivelisse January 11th, 2011 at 2:55 pmI do believe in first love at first sight.
by Michelle C. January 11th, 2011 at 3:52 pmIm a romantic!
Hello Everyone!
So sorry it has taken me until now to get here today. I work in the Tech field and today has been just crazy. Anyway I am so excited to be here and celebrating with The Smutketeers!
Feisty, you are so amazing and sweet. Thanks for the complements. You can have a martini any time you like. Just name the time and place and I will do my very best to have a Lacy Danes Martini ready and waiting!
Wow, Oh the romance!!!! Such amazing stories so far. Thank you everyone of you for opening up and sharing your stories and your beliefs with me!
I believe in love at first sight. I also believe in lust at first sight. Two very different things, in my opinion.
When I met my fiancé(soon to be Mr. Danes), and our eyes met down the bar, I had one of those I got hit by lightning kind of moments. We met 4 years ago and when we brushed hands after ordering drinks it felt like a warm cocoon of content slipped in and wrapped about my heart, but that was not all. There was also a zing of hot lust. The combination was intense and like nothing else I knew. We have had a rocky road to where we are now but being “in love” with him has been there since moment one and I feel is the only reason why we made through all of our ups and downs. I firmly believe he is my soul mate and we will make it through anything because of that instantaneous and now deep yet still growing love. We have taught each other some hard lessons and some amazing ones too. There is nothing like growing together as a couple. I still get white stars in my eyes when we kiss. I never had that until I met him. Gee am I gushing enough. LOL.
by Lacy Danes January 11th, 2011 at 4:06 pmI’m not sure–I believe that people can feel some instantaneous connections, but on the other hand, I think to make that into a lasting relationship still takes some hard work and commitment. So uh, I guess that’s mostly a yes :) Congrats on House of Sin, Lacy!
by Fedora January 11th, 2011 at 4:44 pmThanks, Fedora! I agree all relationships require work to make them grow and remain strong.
Oh and I forgot to say earlier, even though I believe in love at first sight, I also believe that love at first sight can be entirely one sided. Which is sad when that happens. :-(
Lacy.
by Lacy Danes January 11th, 2011 at 5:00 pmI absolutely believe in love at first sight!! I met my partner at a grocery store. I was wearing a short skirt in the summer time and as I walked by him and he said he just had to follow my legs
He came up to me and said I had sexy tan legs…when I turned around and looked him in the eyes, I swear there was fireworks going off. It was definitely love at first sight!! We have been together over 6 years and are still deeply and madly in love with each other.
by Marcy Fritz January 11th, 2011 at 5:29 pmBTW, I LOVED your book “Being Wicked” and look forward to reading your new book “House of Sin”…sounds delicious.
Oh I do believe in love at first sight and yes it happened to me…. Once upon a time, long ago in the in the never never world of he was sooo worth my heart breaking. But you never forget the one that got away!
Please include me in!
by Cecile January 11th, 2011 at 5:33 pmMarcy,
Thank you for your compliments on Being Wicked. I loved writing that book too. I hope you enjoy House Of Sin.
Your love at first sight story is simply delightful! I love that he came right out and said he had to follow your legs!
Cecile, Regrets are part of life, but they teach us something very valuable. Next time you have that feeling I bet you don’t let him get away!
by Lacy Danes January 11th, 2011 at 5:56 pmI absolutely believe in love at first sight! But that definitely doesn’t mean there won’t be ups and downs, now does it mean that everything will end up happily ever after. But it sounds like it does for a lot of people!
by Feisty January 11th, 2011 at 6:06 pmCongrats on “House of Sin” :).
Infatuation is the best feeling you can ever have. Love at first sight certainly generates “Infatuation”.
But what you (or i) need is enduring Love.
“Love at first sight” can be a trigger and if your partner can make you feel the endurance, you are certainly gifted. Otherwise, let it go.
by S January 11th, 2011 at 8:55 pmSharing my story too…I was impressed at her first sight, but was careful in calling it “love” because i get impressed by many people.
She was my college mate, so i got lot of time to convince myself that i love her. She was impressed too. We were friends for some time then. I got convinced, when she cried because of me. But couple of things broke her feelings later. She has chosen to get away from my life.
But it is not dead in me, the last time i saw her was couple of years back. But i still share our story to lot of people with a disclaimer that i am not missing her now.
She was more impressed with me from first sight, but easily got out of my life. But for me, it is taking more time to erase those feelings.
I am not addicted to her with many other girls in the world, but i still have got some sacred feelings towards her.
by S January 11th, 2011 at 10:09 pmI do believe in love at first sight. It’s never happened to me, but if it did I would hope I would be open to it.
by savonna January 12th, 2011 at 2:42 amTotally believe in love at first sight. Just like you Lacy I was at a bar when I met my husband…and I’m sure alcohol had nothing to do with it considering we have been married for 15 years. Best feeling ever!!!
Still adore my hubby and the zing makes an appearance now and again but I think that’s why so many of us love romance…it takes you back to those moments in your life.
Will be reading you soon…DanaM
by Dana January 12th, 2011 at 1:24 pmI believe ub it but it has never happened to me.
