My first historical novella (and first in the Merry Widows series), Lessons In Indiscretion is now available!
Widowed Lady Julia Renwick is still young enough to crave a man’s touch; but she’s too old to think that the Earl of Bedingfield could see her as anything more than a family friend. Garrett Walker is handsome, charming and only 26 years old—the perfect catch for any one of this year’s debutantes.
Garrett has no interest in the maidens vying for his attentions. He wants only Julia. With just two weeks left in the season, he makes a bold move by asking her to dance. When she counters with a shocking request of her own, Garrett eagerly agrees.
Soon, they are stealing away for passionate encounters at every society event they attend. Garrett introduces Julia to excitements she never knew existed, and her newfound confidence quickly attracts other eligible men. It’s not long before Garrett realizes he must find a way to keep the lady all to himself…
You can find Lessons In Indiscretion at Carina Press, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
In celebration of Lessons releasing today, I’m having a special contest here on the Smutketeer blog. You see, I just discovered the most amazing little shop on Etsy. Pixxie Pie & Posie has the most amazing stuff EVER. Seriously. I ordered a few things (for myself and a gift basket the Smutketeers are giving away for the Authors After Dark conference) and they all smell sooo good! Especially my La Petite Morte lotion.
So. I want to offer one of you a chance to experience the deliciousness that is Pixxie Pie & Posie. I will choose one lucky commenter as my winner. My lovely winner will then choose up to $15 worth of items from the Pixxie Pie & Posie shop and I will have the items shipped. Might I suggest the wondrously whipped body butter? At only $11.75 it’s a great size.
Leave a comment for a chance to win! Tell me what you’re doing this week, tell me a favorite scent, tell me if you love historicals, tell me if you’re cranky…tell me anything! Just leave a comment. Winner will be chosen and announced here on Thursday, June 23rd. (will ship to US and Canada only) Good luck!
Psst, a reminder: In celebration of my first historical romance release, I’ve been having a big contest over on my blog. All the details are here. The grand prize? I’m giving away a KINDLE. And I’ve extended the contest through June 24th so if you haven’t entered yet, what are you waiting for? Check out my contest now!
Have you see the Lessons in Indiscretion book trailer? Created by the uber talented Sam Saturday? Check it out!

Best wishes!!! Dana

The novella sounds wonderful! The gift basket doesn’t sound too bad either! LOL What am I doing today? Same as most days, taking care of my 3 month old grandson. Not that I mind, but OMG, I’m not as young as I used to be, that’s for sure!!!

by June M. June 20th, 2011 at 1:26 pmCongrats on the new release Karen!
I’m kind of cranky today because I spent all night on the couch with a scared puppy. Thunderstorms terrify her. I’m currently organizing and purging my closets to prepare for a move at the end of the summer. I enjoy historical romance very much. I like to imagine what it would be like to live during other time periods.
I just surfed the Etsy site. I like the packaging for those bath & body products! I love that La Petite Morte is made with Honeysuckle. I love that scent!

by elaing8 June 20th, 2011 at 5:27 pmbut I do love historicals.
What I am doing this week: Well lets see, I am taking care of my 86 year old Grandmother who isn’t doing too well, my mother and Aunt are visiting so my house is pretty busy. I am getting ready for a grand daughter who may be born anytime and gotta drive 8 hours when I get the call. So right now my hands are pretty full.
My favorite scent: I like natural scents like the butters because I have allergies that bother me with “flowery” scents. I love historicals, I have read alot of them lately, then I switch up. But the historicals are great comfort reads for me.
Am I cranky, sometime when I don’t get much sleep especially when I am up all hours of the night with my Grandma…So here is the “anything!” :)
Would love to win any contest this one or your kindle… going over there next. :) Oh by the way the “new bookcover” looks FABULUSIOUS! :)

I live in Texas and it is hot, hot, hot and not the good kind of hot.
My daughter is moving to New York to live and go to school on the 23rd of this month. We have been spending the last two weeks getting her packed up to go. At least, she is moving with 3 good friends so she won’t be alone up there.
Your new book will be downloaded as soon as possible so that I have something good to read while I enjoy the a/c!
All the best to you and your new book! You are one of my favorite authors.

Mood: a bit mixed–cranky with a bit of laziness tossed in for flavoring.
I’ve now marked Pixxie Pie & Posie as a favorite store. It all looks luscious. That “gunslinger” scent is intriguing.
Oh, for real fun, do a search for “steampunk” at etsy. Some great jewelry pops up.

I’ve got to be honest, I normally have a hard time reading Historicals….. I’m an historian and too many times I get irritated with details that I know are are incorrect. However, I must say I read a book a day and I will give any romance author a chance.
