My first foray into self-publishing is my Midnight Playground prequel story, EVER: THE TURNING, which is officially out now on Amazon and Smashwords! I’m so excited about this story, because it’s Ever…*girlish sigh*. As most of you know, he’s my favorite vampire-and from my fan mail, he’s a reader favorite, too. Even though his own Midnight Playground book, EVERSONG, will be out from Samhain October 4th, I had to write more about him. In EVER: THE TURNING I’m taking us back to 891 AD, to Ever’s Viking origins, and the tale of the vampire who Turned him-and captured his immortal heart.

London, 2040

“Who are you?” he asked somehow. His lungs, his body, no longer hurt at all, the pain quickly forgotten in the wake of the power surging through him. He felt his muscles hardening, his cock the hardest of all.

“I am your savior. Your maker.” Her lips were next to his, her breath impossibly warm and cool at the same time. She spoke English to him, his mother’s milk language, but with that oddly beautiful accent.

“Tell me your name, woman,” he demanded.

“I am no woman. I am Vérún.”

“Vérún…”

The name was strange on his tongue. The woman—for she was a woman, in form, in the tone of her voice—was strange beneath his searching hands. Who was she? What was she—goddess or spirit or some other creature he’d never imagined? But the wondering would have to wait. He would take her now.

He rolled her over, pressing her into the sharp rocks on the cold, rain-soaked beach. He didn’t care if he hurt her. His need was too great.

“Yes, come to me. Come inside me,” she murmured.

He tore his breeches open, kicked her thighs apart and thrust into her.

“Ah!”
