Archive for December, 2011
RG: When people think of New Year’s Eve, they usually think of the ball dropping in Time’s Square, or an overabundance of drinking that leads to midnight kisses that you may or may not regret in the morning. They think of all the times they wondered whether or not Dick Clark made a Dorian Gray-like deal with the devil to keep him looking exactly the same for so many years, and resolutions that sound inspiring and completely reasonable at 11:55 on December 31st, and insanely impossible by noon on January 2nd.
But this year is different. Far more unique than partying like its 1999 (no offense to one of my favorite purple-loving musicians-or partying-which you know the Smutketeers love)

This year its going to be 2012. Sure we don’t have any colonies on other planets, computers with paranoia or emotions like HAL or flying cars *grumble* but its one of those years that has been so etched into our consciousness for such a long time that it is bound to be…well…noteworthy.
What will it be? What’s coming? Zombie Apocalypse? Asteroid? Good Aliens? Bad Aliens? Or maybe the kind of solar activity that helped to create the world in The Smutketeers Wasteland series. (if so, we need to find that library fast lol)
Who knows? The end of the Mayan calendar could be the beginning of something amazing. Or just another crazy year that we don’t have holodecks or visits from Vulcans.
The only thing we know for sure is that we live in interesting times. So instead of pondering the possibilities or popping on one of my fashionable tinfoil hats–
I think we should really celebrate. All year long, we should do our best to make 2012 the best year we’ve ever had. Do something we’ve never dared, try something we’ve always wanted to, but put off for later.
This year we will try and top all the other years that came before it, have more book releases, more interviews and contests–more fun than ever before.
So if by Dec 21st of 2012 we discover time travel or Atlantis or the cure to all diseases, that will be the icing on an already yummy cake
…And if the zombies come? We’ll have no regrets *grin*

We’re so excited to have these lovely ladies (and wonderful authors!) on our blog today! And with such a fabulous giveaway too. Shayla and Lexi, take it away!
Happy Holidays Smutketeers and Smutkedettes!
Shayla: I know you were expecting Sophie Oak to be here with me, but something came up and she couldn’t get the restraints off. I mean, she had a shopping emergency. When I mentioned we had an appearance to make, Lexi Blake gladly agreed to fill in, since we have just finished our second book together, and frankly she likes – well, she LOVES being the center of attention!
We are happy to be here to share the news that our latest “Masters of Ménage- Their Virgin’s Secret” is out just in time for those new e-readers you might find under the tree!
Lexi: Excuse me!!
Shayla: Go ahead Lexi.

Lexi: First of all I want to say how thrilled I am to be here with the Smutketeers, and I want to thank Sophie Oak for having her shopping emergency and remind everyone that she also has a new release TODAY titled Found in Bliss which is available at Siren Book Strand. Now as to our project, Masters of Ménage, Shayla and I wrote the first book together Their Virgin Captive and it was really well received, so we moved ahead and wrote the second story.

Shayla: People ask us if co-authoring was difficult and we basically went into it thinking it needed some of both of us. She wanted to keep some humor and I wanted juicy angst. After we agreed to that, everything fell into place.
Lexi: We have very distinct voices and we didn’t want one chapter to sound like me and one chapter to sound like Shayla, so I wrote chapters in the first draft and then she took over.
Shayla: We’re close friends who both write erotics, so we knew we would eventually write together. After a couple of margaritas one night, we came up with a series plan. It’s been great fun! We would like to give you a little taste with this excerpt and thank you for inviting us over to celebrate the holidays with everyone!
(and we’re so glad you’re with us, Shayla and Lexi! Especially when you share yummy, sexy excerpts *wink*)
CONTEST: Shayla & Lexi are giving away one signed (by both authors!) print copy of Their Virgin Captive. Leave a comment to win!
THEIR VIRGIN’S SECRET
by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake

It was time to have a relationship. This might not last more than a week, but she would know what it meant to belong to someone.
“We should celebrate,” Burke offered. “I think dancing is in order.”
Cole groaned. He wasn’t a dancer, but she’d loved being held in his strong arms when they’d danced on Christmas Eve. He’d sigh and call himself an elephant with two left feet, but being close to him made all the grousing worthwhile.
“How about a movie?” Cole practically pleaded. “Or a show. I’ll go see a show. See, I can compromise.”
She took a long sip of margarita, wishing she had a tequila shot instead. Liquid courage, she needed it. Instead, she drew in a breath and plowed ahead. “I think we should all go to bed.”
They both stopped, and in perfect synchronicity, both swung their dark heads her way.
“What did you say, sweetheart?” Burke asked.
She licked her suddenly dry lips. “You heard me.”
“I heard that you want us in bed.” Cole stared at her like a lion about to pounce on something soft and furry. “All of us. Together.”
Yep. They just stared in silence, those blue eyes hot, dissecting. Embarrassment swamped her. Had she been wrong about them? Had she let the fantasies in her head color her judgment?
Burke’s eyes narrowed. “You want a ménage, sweetheart? Have you ever had one?”
She shook her head. Oh, she didn’t want to admit more than that. Surely she could fake some experience. She’d seen movies. Mostly R rated, but Jimmy from concierge services had once had a party where some of the guys had gone to the back and watched porn films. She’d sneaked a peek. A long peek.
“Do you understand what you’re asking for?” Cole asked. He’d completely closed his expression off. Burke had relaxed, his sensual expression almost decadent. But Cole sat stiffly, his whole body seeming to reject her.
Jessa fought the tears that threatened. She’d thought they both wanted her. Cole, it appeared, was just being nice. If she couldn’t have them both, she wondered if she shouldn’t just walk away. It would be like accepting half of something. Ever since that first night, she’d viewed them as a single unit. She forced a bright smile on her face, hating the sniffle that came out. She’d gotten herself in to this mess. She could get herself out.
“Just kidding.” She forced a laugh. “Sorry, guys. I’ll stop telling bad jokes, I promise. Let’s just have a nice dinner, then I’ll head back to the hotel since I have to work tonight.”
“No, you don’t. Eric is working. I saw the schedule.” Burke raised a dark brow.
She was a horrible liar. She couldn’t hold the sunny pretense anymore, not with humiliation stinging every corner of her body. “Why don’t I just go?”
Grabbing her coat, she stood.
“No,” Burke barked with a ferocious frown. “Jessa, sit back in your seat. We need to talk about this.”
Slowly, she set her coat aside and eased back into her chair. “There’s nothing to say. If you don’t want—”
Cole snorted, his gaze looking as if it had heated up ten thousand degrees in the last minute, though the rest of his body remained frozen.
But Burke spoke. “Sweetheart, we’re not shocked by the idea. Trust me, we’ve done this a time or two. We prefer to share lovers, but you’re very young.”
“And very inexperienced.” A fact that made Cole grit his teeth.
“How would you know that?” Jessa challenged. It was true, but his assumption annoyed her. She fought the urge to get up and walk away—end this whole embarrassing evening. “You don’t know my history. I could have had a bunch of lovers.”
Both men snorted. Somehow they made it seem elegant.
“Sweetheart, if you’ve had more than a couple, I’ll eat my socks.” He watched her closely, then paled. “You have had a couple, right?”
She took another long swallow, then knew they could see right through her. No sense in lying now. “Fine. All right. No.”
Cole clenched his jaw and sent Burke an accusing stare. “I told you the minute we met her that she was a virgin, brother. God damn it.”
Jessa suddenly felt alone. The twins were looking at each other, their eyes speaking while their mouths stayed closed. Sometimes they retreated into a private world where she couldn’t follow.
Moments later, Cole stood, buttoning the jacket of his suit coat. “It’s time for me to leave. She’s too innocent for what I need. I can’t put that on a virgin. Besides, she’s more interested in you. I’ll go back to the hotel. We do have work to do, remember?”
Burke’s face fell. “Can’t we talk about this?”
“What the fuck is there to say?”
She sat there watching them, wishing she hadn’t ever spoken up. They could still be sitting here having a nice dinner and planning to go to a movie or a show together. But no, she’d needed to forge her own path. She always did. She could hear her mother complaining in her head about what a ungrateful daughter she was for turning aside all their plans for her and making her own. Painting, not international business. Two men, not one.
Jessa listened to them argue. She was on the outside now, but then she’d felt that way all of her life. Even at the lavish parties her parents had thrown, she’d been on the outside. When she’d tried to fit in, going to a school she didn’t want to go to, studying what she didn’t love, it had been terrible. Always on the outside.
The best thing she’d ever done had been defying her parents. She’d stood up and gotten kicked out, but it had been for the best. She would have suffocated if she’d stayed. She’d been happier since leaving all that behind and didn’t regret her choice for a minute. So why was she retreating now instead of fighting for what she wanted? Wasn’t she simply proving Cole’s point that she was too inexperienced to handle him?
She wasn’t a child. She might not have slept around, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t deal. She looked at him, really looked at him. She tried to look past her insecurity and see him as he truly was. Jessa gnawed into her lip. How would she draw Cole into this moment? His face was all broad lines and bleak angles, but under the pain she saw gentleness lurking. Yearning, even. She would love to draw him, then transfer that image to canvas, the colors of her palate bringing everything to life. Time slowed for Jessa. She studied him as she would a subject she painted, looking deep. Bold colors. He required them. He wasn’t as black and white as he tried to portray. He was a million shades, just like his brother.
He turned to her, and she realized his carefully blank stare wasn’t about her. He was scared of something.
Maybe she was fooling herself or seeing what she wanted to see, but his sudden refusal didn’t make a lick of sense. For two days, Cole had been right beside her, eating her up with his stare again and again, silently seducing her with the desire in his remote eyes. Burke was more blatant, less veiled, but she hadn’t imagined Cole’s attraction to her. What was he afraid of?
“Goodbye, Jessa.” His voice sounded ragged. “You have a good time with Burke. He’ll take care of you, baby.”
“No.” The word slipped out. Now that she’d truly seen him, she knew deep down that if he let his fear win, it would haunt them all.
Burke smiled, but Cole scowled, suddenly on the offense.
“No?” Cole challenged, leaning in. “What is that supposed to mean?”
Stopping him in his tracks emboldened her. Jessa stood, certainty running through her veins, settling her face inches from his. She was still nervous, but no one got what they wanted by giving up. And she just knew she was doing the right thing.
“It means that you two are a packaged deal. I won’t settle for half, and that’s what I would get if I only gave myself to Burke. I would get the good and the gentle, but there’d be no balance.”
“Fuck balance. Stick to Prince Charming. I’m a ruthless bastard.” Cole’s eyes narrowed. His fists clenched.
She was getting to him.
“I don’t need gentle all the time,” Jessa assured him softly. “I need what you can give me.”

Hope you aren’t too hungover from Xmas :)
Remember this book? Three for Me? was the 2009 story about a group of lifelong friends who, after watching one of their oldest buddies marry the two girls of his dreams on a wedding cruise, begin to think about each other in an entirely different way. With a little help from a kinky shore excursion in Cozumel.
I’ll admit, I’ve received a lot of email over the years about the threesome who wed at the beginning of the story. How did Connie, Lee and Lori Ann get together anyway?
While my holiday offering doesn’t answer that question…it does revisit them through Georgia Virgina Bale, the heroine in Four for Christmas. Connie’s been her friend for ten years, long before she met her two significant others. All she wants for Christmas is to give Georgia some good holiday memories with a family that, while it might not be traditional, is still warm and loving.
Things never go quite the way you plan. But sometimes, that’s a good thing.

Dreaming of a White Christmas led her straight into their arms…
In this holiday spin off of the bestselling novella Three For Me? Saving a man in a snowstorm leads Georgia Bale to an isolated cabin, where three men have an important promise to keep. A promise Georgia soon becomes caught up in herself.
She just wanted to survive Christmas, and her bad holiday karma. She had no idea that accepting a friend’s invitation to Colorado would lead her to her perfect man. Times three.
What does an eccentric writer do when a compassionate doctor, a dominant police officer, and a handsome adrenaline junkie only have eyes for her?
Use her imagination.
But when the storm clears, she’ll have to decide which path to take. The way back home, or the road less traveled.
Warning: A bit of heart tugging, excessive use of imagination, role playing (the dirty kind), foursomes, holiday magic, a guardian angel or two… and the kinky use of holiday themed beverages.
**AVAILABLE NOW AT
AMAZON and Barnes & Noble

Flynn, Chris, and James–or as Georgia likes to call them, Snowmobile, Doc and Officer Jimmy (it could be Officer Neanderthal, depending on her mood) made up a few new traditions for the season. We now welcome….US! YAY!
Eden Bradley/Eve Berlin
I love the holidays! It’s an excellent excuse to shop, shop, shop! I even love the bad holiday music at the malls. I even love the crowds. But one of the things I love the most are Xmas decorations. Lights, garlands, and especially Xmas trees.
Every year I buy a few new ornaments, and I have tons! I love to pack the tree, just load it down with ornaments. My favorites are the gorgeous hand-blown glass bulbs, but I have some funny ones, too, including an entire collection of rubber ducks wearing Santa hats.
Last year was my boyfriend’s very first tree, which was pretty exciting-and we weren’t the only ones who were excited about it. Our three cats were enthralled! Luckily that didn’t include them hiking up the middle of three, knocking it over and breaking all the ornaments, which is what we’d anticipated. Instead, all they wanted to do was curl up under the tree, especially at night when the lights were twinkling in the dark. Well, that, and chew off all the ribbons, bows and pretty gift tags-especially our cat Xev.

This year we’ll be a little smarter about it-no bows for us! Or for Xev.
So-since I don’t have a holiday book or even a new release this winter-other than one I can’t talk about yet (yes, I’m keeping it secret for now, and no amount of candy canes, RG’s rum balls or spiked egg nog can get it out of me! Wait-what? You have a pair of Christian Louboutin sequined platform pumps? But no-my lips are sealed!) why don’t I give away one of my oldies but goodys-at least, I hope you’ll like it. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Giveaway: One ARC (advance reading copy) in PDF format of my kinky erotic romance novel, PLEASURE’S EDGE.
Karen Erickson
Ah, I love Christmas. Even though it’s usually stressful and I’m always ready to be done with it when December 26th rolls around, I do find myself caught up in the magic of it all.
We have a few traditions in my household we maintain every year. One of them is going to a particular street in our local area that does up the Christmas lights and decorations in a big way.
Christmas Tree Lane is so cool – we go every year. Two Saturdays ago my husband and I, all the kids plus my oldest son’s best friend, plus my mother-in-law, we piled up in our truck and went for a drive.
We put on the radio station that plays Christmas songs 24/7 and Wham’s “Last Christmas” comes on. And you know what happened? All of my kids started to sing the song. Who knew when I was fourteen and watching the video on MTV that it would become a classic? That my kids, right down to the seven year old, can sing along with the lyrics! My fourteen-year-old-self would’ve thought that was awesome.
My current self thinks it’s definitely awesome. *grins*
Happy Holidays everyone! Thanks for coming to our blog party and making it the event for the Christmas season! We love you all!

Giveaway: One digital copy of my holiday historical romance novella, Her Christmas Pleasure.
Crystal Jordan
This is my second Christmas with the Professor Moriarty, and we’re actually running over to Riverside tonight to the famed Mission Inn to check out the annual Festival of Lights. He loves it and took me to see it for the first time last year. It’s totally magical, the whole historic hotel is done in lights with tiny singing animatronic people, plus real reindeers outside. It’s frickin’ cool, y’all.
This Christmas is going waaay better than our first one, when we had to get up at 3am so I could drive him to the airport for a 6am flight to Europe. My memories of it are kinda groggy and grumpy. This year, however, we’re spending the holidays together and we’ll be in Hawaii. I’ve said this everywhere to anyone, because I am so frickin’ excited.
I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday, spent with the people you love most. That’s my plan anyway. Along with a beach and a cocktail with a little umbrella in it. Heh. Happy Holidays!

Giveaway: One advanced copy of my January erotic romance e-book, Demon’s Caress.
R.G. Alexander/Rachel Grace/RG The Smutty Xmas Elf
I’ve said this before-of course I believe in Santa. And not just because I’m the Elf, or my mother told us when we were teenagers that if we didn’t at least PRETEND he existed, she’d put coal in our stockings. I’ve always believed. As I grew up and the mainstream story became more difficult to stand by, I adapted. Yes, I knew he didn’t live at the North Pole…here. It was in an alternate dimension. Geesh. Everybody knows that, right?
But for a long time now, for me at least, he’s been the idea that we can all make magic happen. We just choose to do it during a certain time of year when roasting nuts isn’t slang for something vulgar, and snuggling can be excused as more of a necessity than a need to cling. :) Everyone gets at least one opportunity in their lives to get the Santa feeling. To secretly do something good for someone who needs it, or to give just exactly the right thing–not the most expensive thing–the right thing. The one that makes the recipient’s eyes light up just so. And sometimes its just about being a good friend. Don’t get me wrong though, I also love presents and have a compulsive desire to unwrap them *g*
Another reason this time of year is my favorite? Mandatory singing. Seriously, it cannot be avoided. And I really, really love that.
***Ooh, one more thing. You are the first to know. My self pubbed holiday novella, FOUR FOR CHRISTMAS, is coming out today!!! Any second now *looking around impatiently* (I’ll be updating this blog with Amazon and B&N links as they pop up, so check back!) I know, they cut it close, but I think these particular men are worth it. Its my first Christmas story, and it kind of broke my heart…and made me want to do some of those things on the NNN naughty list (plus I got to introduce Roux the Smutketeer mascot to the world of a writer-where no one you know-not even your puppy-is safe from becoming a character)
In fact after we announce the grand prize winners tomorrow-I’ll be having another pretty cool giveaway of my own to celebrate. So excited!!!
Here’s the cover and blurb:

Welcome Shiloh Walker!
Holiday Memories…some of my favorite Christmas memories, if I had to chose, well, I’m going to break them into two parts-my childhood memories, and then the grown-up ones. When I was a kid, one of my favorite memories was Christmas Eve…Mom and Dad always let us open one, just one present…a tradition we usually manage to carry over with our kids.
My favorite memories from the adult years? Things like making Christmas cookies with my kids, taking them out at night to see the lights. I love experiencing the magic of it through the eyes of a child.
If you’re looking for a quick holiday read, check out the story listed in my sidebar–A PRESENT FOR CHRISTMAS…

When Ezra hears her story of an unknown woman’s screams, his instincts tell him that Lena’s life is also at risk—and his desire to protect her is as fierce as his need to possess her.
First in a new romantic suspense trilogy
Excerpt
Her lips, soft and warm, brushed along his jawline then down his neck. “I know that you got pissed at yourself because you touched me and you thought I didn’t want you touching me…and you would have left me alone, as quick as that. And that right there says a lot about you, Ezra King. It says a whole helluva a lot.”
He shot a hand into her hair and tugged, guiding her face up so that he could stare down at her. He caught her other hand and as much as it damned near killed him, he tugged her away until those clever, cool fingers were no longer tormenting and threatening to destroy what little trace of control remained.
“You’re too damned trusting, baby. You think some slick bastard couldn’t make you think just those very things, play on it until you were willing to do just this?”
Lena laughed and pushed up on her toes, pressed her lips to his. “I’m sure some slick bastard could try to do just that…and several slick bastards have tried, tried and failed miserably. I’ve got good instincts, Ezra…and you may be slick, you might even be a bit of a bastard when you want. But you’re not one for games.” Then she bit his lower lip. “I’m not much for moving quick, but I am one for listening to my instincts…and everything inside me wants you.”
Fuck…
Ezra’s hand tightened in her hair and he slammed his head back against the wall, staring at the ceiling. Count to ten. Ten didn’t work. Try twenty—
Fuck it. He could count to fifteen million and it wasn’t going to do a bit of good. He was burning, his cock hard, his balls on fire, and the only thing that would soothe that blistering heat was Lena. “I should know better than this,” he muttered, lowering his eyes back to her face and staring down at her. “I really, really should. But screw it.”
A smile bloomed on her lips just as he crushed his mouth to hers.
She moaned into his kiss and rose up on her toes, arching against him. Her breasts pressed flat against his chest, her belly cradling his cock. Sliding his hands under the waistband of her trousers he shoved them down as far as he could without breaking contact with her mouth. “Naked, Lena. Get naked for me.”
She shimmied her hips and the black cotton fell into a puddle at her feet. Then she leaned back, reaching for the hem of her shirt. Ezra beat her to it, stripping the skimpy tank away and staring down at her. His mouth went dry.

Welcome Sasha White!
I’m the baker in our family. My mom always says Nana’s baking skills skipped a generation, and it’s true. While Mom can bake if she wanted to, she hates it, so never does. Me? I love baking, but I really only do a lot of it around christmas because it brings back such fond memories of baking with my Nana when I was growing up. Yes, I think cookies = love, and I always include a tin of treats for my family members with their gifts.
She passed away seven years ago, but I still think of her every christmas, especially when I try to make shortbread and it fails. :(
However, my family is never disappointed because I’m able to give them things like this christmas favorite. It’s super easy to make, and so very very yummy. I hope you try it.
