Welcome International Heat!
Happy Holidays from International Heat!
This holiday season we thought we’d share some “Sugar and Spicy Books” to get everyone in the Ho-Ho-Ho spirit! There’s nothing like waking up on a chilly winter morning to the smell of cookies baking. Like most people, the International Heat authors have sweet treats they make every December and we’d like to share a few of the recipes with you. From our kitchen to yours…
Mari Carr’s O’Henry Bars
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 ½ cups peanut butter
6 cups Special K cereal
6 oz. each Semi-sweet chocolate and butterscotch chips
Bring corn syrup and sugar to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter. Mix with Special K and push into a 9×13 pan. Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips in microwave about one minute. Stir, then microwave for one minute more. Spread on top. Cut into squares and Enjoy!
Anne Rainey’s No Fail Peanut Brittle
3 cups sugar
1 cup corn syrup
½ cup water
3 cups of peanuts
1 Tbs. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup. Bring to a rapid simmer over medium-high and cook until thread spins when you pour a small amount from the spoon held above the pot. Add peanuts and continue to stir until mixture is a golden brown color. Remove pan from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients: vanilla, butter, baking soda, and salt. The mixture will bubble up and become milky looking. Stir until mixture is no longer bubbling and caramel is smooth.
Transfer to two lightly greased cookie sheets and spread with a lightly greased spatula. Let cool until firm, approx. 15 minutes. Break into pieces. Note: You can substitute almonds, cashews or pecans for something different.
Lexxie Couper’s White Christmas
500g white chocolate melts
1 1/2 cups rice bubbles
100g red and green glace cherries, halved (some chopped dried apricots are also yummy to add)
160g almonds, roasted, halved (and pistachios if you like them)
160g sultanas
1 cup (90g) desiccated coconut
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Line a 30cm x 20cm (base) baking pan with baking paper. Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (don’t let bowl touch water). Fold in the remaining ingredients. Pour mixture into the prepared pan, pressing down with a large metal spoon. Refrigerate for 4 hours or until set.
Turn slice onto a chopping board. Using a knife that has been dipped in hot water, cut into squares. Serve.
You will need 4 hours of refrigeration time.
Now on to the Spicy!
Truth or Dare by Rhian Cahill releases January 17, 2012.
Daring to tell the truth will change the rules of this game forever.
Party Games, Book 2
When her friend deserts her at an exclusive Sydney house party, Miki Drummond retreats to a corner to observe the insanity. Watching life go by is something she does well, especially after the hell her marriage put her through.
She never dreamed she’d reconnect with not one but two blasts from her high school past. And she never expected their heated gazes to bring her body so easily back to life.
Grant Rogers and Dayne Pierce never forgot Miki. Ever. Past experience tells them to tread slowly and carefully, but that plan flies out the window when they’re all dragged into a game of Truth or Dare. Something’s up, because Miki repeatedly chooses to take a shot rather than reveal her obvious pain. Time after time.
Waking up hungover in a strange bedroom, Miki is caught in an electrically charged moment with two men who offer her unimaginable pleasure, who seem determined to keep her suspended in sweet torment—permanently.
One night of pure fantasy is all Miki dares to take, but come morning the hard truth is that walking away isn’t an option.
Warning: The author cannot be held responsible for any truth you may tell or dare you make take after reading this story. And if you find yourself sandwiched between two hunky men…take the dare.
On December 22, Wild Irish Christmasby Mari Carr releases.
Wild Irish, Book Eight
“To Conall Brannagh.”
Ewan took the bottle from his father. “Who?”
“Conall Brannagh,” Patrick repeated. “If your mother had chosen him over me, none of us would be here tonight.”
It’s Christmas Eve, and the Collins siblings have given their father a precious gift. All seven have gathered together to spend the night in his apartment above the family pub, the warm, loving home where Patrick and Sunday raised their large brood.
You’ve witnessed each child find their happy-ever-after. Now gather ’round the tree and join the Collins family as they pass a bottle of Jameson, and Patrick shares the story of how he won the heart of Sunday, his true love, his soul mate…and the mother of his seven Wild Irish.
Suck and Blow by Lexxie Couper
Let the games begin…
Party Games, Book 1
Talent agent Frankie Winchester is a hellion. Her motto is all a girl needs is a fun time, a fast car and an awesome masseur on speed dial. There’s only one person who could beat her at anything. Alec. Bane of her high-school existence, a kid whose parents were as working class and loving as hers were rich and distant.
When celebrity landscape architect Alec Harris spots Frankie at an exclusive Sydney house party, everything comes rushing back. The memory of being the “cheap-money” kid, trying and failing to prove himself—and impress his dream girl, Frankie Winchester.
Unexpectedly partnered in a wildly sexy game, the delicious friction ignites a scorching sexual tension. But there’s more than a playing card trapped between them. Frankie refuses to admit that kiss shook her to the core. Alec wants nothing less than her full surrender.
Game on!
Product Warnings C’mon, the book’s called Suck and Blow. What more warning do you need?
Hidden Talents by Bianca D’Arc
Sometimes in space… everyone can hear you scream.
StarLords, Book 1
While on an undercover mission to gather intelligence on the neighboring collective, Micah receives the shock of his life. A shy, reclusive horse tamer who possesses a level of raw psi Talent that nearly matches his own. Along with her pure, wild Talent, her beautiful spirit and innocence rouse him to take her on a voyage of discovery to the stars…and the limits of her own, untapped passion.
All her life, Jeri has hidden her Talent, enduring the stigma of being “odd”. Once aboard the Circe, Micah and his cousin Darak, a rogue of the first order, guide her through a world where those with Talents are revered, not hunted. Where pleasure hones and strengthens psi power to undreamed-of heights. Where love is a real possibility, not a distant dream.
When a defenseless planet is besieged by the collective’s armada, the Circe races to the rescue—only to discover a missing piece of Jeri’s past on the wrong side of the battle. And that combining her formidable new powers with Micah’s may win the day, but cost her everything…
See You In My Dreams by Jess Dee
Every girl’s fantasy…one woman’s dream.
Speed, Book 1
Sophie Butler is sure she’s about to lose her much-needed cleaning job. She’s not only walked in on a guest—a violation of her employer’s cardinal rule—but she can’t seem to tear her gaze away from his gorgeous, naked-as-the-day-he-was-born body.
If all that isn’t bad enough, her usually sensible judgment and behavior are clouded by a nagging sense of familiarity. She knows the man from somewhere, she just can’t quite place him.
Nathan Pace is certain he’s just lost his jealously guarded anonymity. But hold on…if she’s just another fan looking for a piece of his alter ego, rock star Jamie Speed, why is she blushing six shades of scarlet? And why is he instantly aroused? When he catches a glimpse of her eyes, he knows. She’s the woman who for ten years has haunted his dreams.
The attraction that flares between them is undeniable—and unstoppable. But getting close means risking Nathan’s secret identity. Just this once, he’d like a woman to fall for the real man, not the press’s version of a celebrity superstar.
Product Warnings
This may be an erotic contemporary romance, but it does contain a hint of fantasy. And when that fantasy involves erotic dreams about a gorgeous rock star, you know you’re gonna want the fantasy to become reality…
Undone Lovers, Book 1
When amateur fetish model and rockabilly princess Adelita “Addie” Sanchez is asked to model for an instructional BDSM book she turns them down, adamant that she’s not a porn star. That changes when she meets the three male dominants behind the project, particularly Lane Therres, who convinces her that the project is more art than porn, and she’d be safe in his hands.
The rules of the photo sessions are clear—there’s no sex, and Addie can call a halt to anything she’s uncomfortable with. What self reliant, strong-willed Addie hadn’t counted on was enjoying giving herself over to the powerful Doms and their ropes, chains and toys. When she falls for Lane, while enjoying Emory’s touch, Addie turns away from both men, scared of what they’re doing to her. Can a relationship built on a BDSM contract ever be anything but whips and chains? Lane changes his Dom leather for shining armor to prove to his rockabilly princess that even the most gallant knights sometimes prefer dungeons.
Book three in the Alliance Series
Who knew being bad could be so good?
Voss Potter ran from his life. He wasn’t wanted and was sick of being used as a pawn by his uncle. He thought he would explore the world as a stow away on an old friends ship. The only thing he wasn’t counting on? Maverick Sayers. The sexy first officer he’d lusted after for years.
Maverick Sayers loved his job. Nothing was better than traveling the world with good friends. One order changes his life forever. Protect Voss Potter. Now they are fleeing across the galaxy one step ahead of a money hungry family and a disease that could kill planets.
Can following orders leave to true love?
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of violence.
Zach is too hot for words but Marc has no intention of falling for his sexy coworker—no matter how many of Marc’s explicit dreams Zach stars in. With only a few months left of his stay in Germany, Marc doesn’t dare risk his heart with the beautiful man. But a train ride gone wrong changes everything when Zach comes to his rescue, melting Marc’s resistance in the process.
Zach’s patience has paid off. But now that the reserved scientist has turned up the heat from simmer to sizzle, four months won’t cut it. No. Zach wants forever. Will their chemistry be enough?
This Thanksgiving comes with all the fixings…and something extra hot.
Blackwater, Book 1
Sam Jennings promised his father he’d always take care of the woman who yanked him and his four brothers out of foster care. When his adoptive mom has a near-fatal heart attack, Sam knows it’s past time to live up to his word.
As he sets out to put the Blackwater Diner back on its feet, he runs into his first snag. Waitress Julie Rose’s sweet curves and long legs are driving Sam to distraction. Even his brothers aren’t immune to her kind heart. But Sam is determined to be the only man in her bed.
Julie doesn’t regret the years she lost caring for her grandmom, but now, between business classes and her job, she’s left with very little time and energy for dating. Then there’s her policy about never getting mixed up with the boss’s son. But Sam’s hard body and wicked ideas have Julie forgetting all about annoying things like rules, and she accepts his invitation to show her all she’s been missing.
Sam is more than willing to take things slow as he teaches her all about the pleasures of the flesh. Luckily for him, Julie is a darned good student…
Product Warnings Contains explicit language, a sexy carpenter, and extra helpings of naughty fun under the stars. Heat and increased heart rate may help burn off extra holiday calories.
Will his boyfriend’s girlfriend become his girlfriend too?
Powertools, Book 4
James has watched each of the crew fall in love, one by one, until only he and his life partner Neil remain “unattached”. So, when he sees the way his bisexual boyfriend is checking out their new apprentice, he’s sure he’s doomed to lose the man of his dreams.
His love is strong enough that he would let go to ensure Neil’s happiness. Instead, sparks fly between the three of them—along with the rest of the crew—and he realizes he might not have to surrender because his boyfriend’s girlfriend is becoming his girlfriend too.
Product Warnings: The world’s first m/f/m/f/m/f/m/m/f…we think. You never know exactly what’s going to happen next when the crew gets back together, but it’s guaranteed to be steamy.

by Michelle B December 13th, 2011 at 11:20 pmCool! Books to help warm you up during the winter!
As for holiday treats, well they’re these cookies that my mom makes almost every year. They’re called peanut blossoms and they have kisses pushed in to the top of the cookie, my whole immediate family loves them.
It’s nearly impossible to keep them in the house especially when my dad’s home for the holidays I think he’s the biggest peanut blossom fanatic of all of us!
Oh and around this time of year I love and I mean LOVE pumpkin cake roll, I think that’s what it’s called and we have this small cookie shop not too far from our house and so far they make the best pumpkin cake roll!
As for good spicy stories? It’s kind of hard to pick just one. I think one of the best ones I’ve read was called Glutton For Pleasure by Alisha Rai, the heroine was an Indian chef who had two very sexy men interested her.
The story was great and it was both food spicy and genre spicy! Ya can’t get a better combination then that!
The recipes sound awesome, I’ll definitely be back later to write them down. My family and I love trying out new recipes! Thanks for them!

There is no way I can name a favorite spicy book because I have so many– I’ll name one I just read and loved– Dirty Little Secrets by Julie Leto– Spicy and has a Latin heroine and hero! Oooh Spanish words of love:)
