on Apr 17th, 2012 Crystal: So tell me, which Smutketeer was your gateway drug to the group? Which of us managed to lure you in?
Taryn: That would be Eden. I was looking at a friend’s bookshelf on Goodreads, which I’m addicted to by the way, and she had a few of Eden’s books on there. I saw the cover for Pleasure’s Edge and asked her a million questions about it. I was a little skeptical at first because it is a BDSM book and I didn’t have pleasurable experiences with them in my earlier reads. I then went to the author’s site and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the link for the Smutketeers. My hubby loves to joke about what smut I’m reading at the moment. I had never heard anyone say that word before him so it felt like it was fate when I found the link. I bought the book right then and I’ve been hooked ever since. This was only just a few months ago.
Crystal: Don’t worry, Eden has corrupted so many of us. I’d never written a smutty book before I met her. She’s wicked like that. Okay… Which genre of romance is your favorite and why? Do you read outside of romance?
Taryn: Which genre is my favorite? That’s not an easy question! LOL! I think Paranormal Romance will always have my heart because it’s what got me started in reading in the first place. There’s something very alluring about the dark and mysterious worlds created. They keep me entertained for hours. I read it for three years straight and then branched out. Now I love erotic romance, preferably BDSM romance. But it’s not always about sex with me like most people think. Of course I love reading those hot and steamy scenes, no doubt, but it’s a bit more edgy and darker and I think that’s why I like it so much. It’s an eye opener for me.
I hardly read outside of romance. It’s very rare that I will. It takes a lot for me to…there are only a few select authors whose books I will read.
Crystal: Which romance novel was the first you ever read? Which one is your favorite?
Taryn: Don’t hate me Smutketters….but Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward is my favorite! I’ve read that book so many times I lost count. I had to buy a new one because it was about to fall apart. I love a male who has a very tortured soul who thinks he is not worthy of being loved or loving someone. It also helped that Zsadist is a complete utter asshole to Bella. Ahh, I do love my mean alpha males. :) The meaner the better for me because underneath all of that male exterior is a teddy bear completely worthy of love.
Crystal: Tell us something we’d be surprised to know about you.
Taryn: While in grade school I never read one book from beginning to end. In fact, I did whatever I could to avoid reading.
Crystal: Tell us about the biggest fangirl moment of your life. Which author/movie star/politician/famous person got to be on the receiving end of the squee?
Taryn: I am totally going to make you ladies jealous! I got to meet Eric from True Blood aka Alex Scarsgard! I am a very shy person to begin with and when I saw him I just stared like a dummy with stars in my eyes. Fangirl moment for an author would have been at the RWA signing in New York City last summer. I met Christy Reece, my favorite romantic-suspense author. Gosh, I love her and her books! There were others authors I met who gave me fangirl moments too, like Gena Showalter, Larissa Ione, Sherriyn Kenyon, Karin, Tabke, Toni Blake aka Lacy Alexander, Maya Banks, Kate Pearce and so many more. I met so many wonderful authors that day.
Crystal: You just moved…have you unpacked your books yet? Who came out of the box first?
Taryn: I was like a kid on Christmas morning when I opened my books! LOL! I just started tearing open the boxes trying to decide which book to put where on my new bookshelf….then I became overwhelmed with how many books I have. I do recall the first books I put up were my erotic books on the top shelf. ALL of the Smutketeers are up there together along with Megan Hart, E.L. James, Lora Leigh, Nadia Aiden, Jaci Burton and lots more. Sadly, I only have one shelf at the moment. The store ran out of shelves so I have to wait. But the books that mean the most to my heart are on my shelves at the moment.
Crystal: Tell us about a special or inspiring moment in your life.
Taryn: Simple: When I met my husband- no joke. I was 17 and he was 21. Normally I didn’t go after the older guys but there was something about him. We met on the set of a music video, of all things. I was a back-up dancer and he played the boyfriend. I was just coming out of a difficult time in my life. I was what you would call a “wild child”. I did what I wanted when I wanted and my father was ok with it…until I got into some trouble. That’s when I met my hubby. From the moment I met him, he inspired me to be a better person. I can’t explain it…I truly didn’t want to live the life I had previously lived, which was so easy for me to go back to it. I wanted to be a better person from the moment I met him for him. I really didn’t speak to him the first day, with me being shy and all, but a few days later I did. And a few months later I was pregnant with our first son, Anthony Angelo. I may have only been 18, but I knew deep down how right it was…like it was meant to be. Sounds corny, I know. We had our second son when I was 21, Dominic Rocco. Again, it’s something that I can’t explain, I just knew. Now I’m 27 and we’ve been together ever since. Our wedding anniversary is April 23rd.

Crystal: What’s your favorite part about being a Smutkedette?
Taryn: The fact that I can be myself. I have a bit of a dirty mind…ok it’s more than a bit. LOL! I can make almost anything sound dirty or turn it into something dirty. I don’t mean to most of the time, I just can’t help it. I think it’s just how I’m wired. But I don’t have to worry or walk on egg shells being a Smutkedette with what I say. I am who I am. It makes me feel good knowing there are others like me…. that I’m not a freak with a gutter mind. Drea, being one of them, with a comment she made recently about wood and ass. LOL!! Oh, and Kitty Kelly too. How I love Kitty Kelly!

Depends on where the piercing is. I’ve had my tongue pierced…let’s just say NEVER again. It hurt like a mofo for weeks! Plus I was 17 so I had to hide it which was even harder and more painful. My tattoo was a piece of cake compared to my tongue piercing, which I now no longer have. So I guess I will go with tattoo.

I don’t think you’ll find the video online, I couldn’t. She changed the video at the last minute and features mostly guys dancing, but you would see my hubs. She is a great singer but no longer sings. She quit pursuing her music career to join the Marines. She’s been a Marine ever since.
