Welcome Shiloh Walker!

Holiday Memories…some of my favorite Christmas memories, if I had to chose, well, I’m going to break them into two parts-my childhood memories, and then the grown-up ones.  When I was a kid, one of my favorite memories was Christmas Eve…Mom and Dad always let us open one, just one present…a tradition we usually manage to carry over with our kids.

My favorite memories from the adult years?  Things like making Christmas cookies with my kids, taking them out at night to see the lights.  I love experiencing the magic of it through the eyes of a child.

If you’re looking for a quick holiday read, check out the story listed in my sidebar–A PRESENT FOR CHRISTMAS

Giveaway: One autographed book from available backlist.

The scream Lena Riddle hears in the woods behind her house is enough to curdle her blood—she has no doubt that a woman is in real danger. Unfortunately, with no physical evidence, the local law officers in small-town Ash, Kentucky, dismiss her claim. But Lena knows what she heard—and it leaves her filled with fear and frustration.

Ezra King is on leave from the state police, but he can’t escape the guilty memories that haunt his dreams. When he sees Lena, he is immediately drawn to her. He aches to touch her—to be touched by her—but is he too burdened by his tragic past to get close?

When Ezra hears her story of an unknown woman’s screams, his instincts tell him that Lena’s life is also at risk—and his desire to protect her is as fierce as his need to possess her.

First in a new romantic suspense trilogy

Excerpt

Her lips, soft and warm, brushed along his jawline then down his neck.  “I know that you got pissed at yourself because you touched me and you thought I didn’t want you touching me…and you would have left me alone, as quick as that.  And that right there says a lot about you, Ezra King.  It says a whole helluva a lot.”

He shot a hand into her hair and tugged, guiding her face up so that he could stare down at her.  He caught her other hand and as much as it damned near killed him, he tugged her away until those clever, cool fingers were no longer tormenting and threatening to destroy what little trace of control remained.

“You’re too damned trusting, baby.  You think some slick bastard couldn’t make you think just those very things, play on it until you were willing to do just this?”

Lena laughed and pushed up on her toes, pressed her lips to his.  “I’m sure some slick bastard could try to do just that…and several slick bastards have tried, tried and failed miserably. I’ve got good instincts, Ezra…and you may be slick, you might even be a bit of a bastard when you want. But you’re not one for games.”  Then she bit his lower lip.  “I’m not much for moving quick, but I am one for listening to my instincts…and everything inside me wants you.”

Fuck…

Ezra’s hand tightened in her hair and he slammed his head back against the wall, staring at the ceiling.  Count to ten.  Ten didn’t work.  Try twenty—

Fuck it.  He could count to fifteen million and it wasn’t going to do a bit of good. He was burning, his cock hard, his balls on fire, and the only thing that would soothe that blistering heat was Lena.  “I should know better than this,” he muttered, lowering his eyes back to her face and staring down at her.  “I really, really should. But screw it.”

A smile bloomed on her lips just as he crushed his mouth to hers.

She moaned into his kiss and rose up on her toes, arching against him.  Her breasts pressed flat against his chest, her belly cradling his cock.  Sliding his hands under the waistband of her trousers he shoved them down as far as he could without breaking contact with her mouth.  “Naked, Lena.  Get naked for me.”

She shimmied her hips and the black cotton fell into a puddle at her feet.  Then she leaned back, reaching for the hem of her shirt.  Ezra beat her to it, stripping the skimpy tank away and staring down at her.  His mouth went dry.

Welcome Maya Banks!

Happy Holidays! My upcoming book from the KGI series, Whispers in the Dark, will be available January 3rd:

She came to him when he needed her the most

She came to him at his lowest point. The voice of an angel, a whisper in the dark. She’s the only thing that gets Nathan Kelly through his captivity, the endless days of torture and the fear that he’ll never return to his family. With her help, he’s able to escape. But he isn’t truly free, because now she’s disappeared and he’s left with an all-consuming emptiness as he struggles to pick up the pieces of his life. Did he imagine his angel? Or is she out there, needing his help as he’d once needed hers?

Now he rushes to save her before it’s too late

Shea has been on the run from people who will stop at nothing to exploit her unique abilities. She never wanted to drag Nathan, who’d already suffered so much, into danger, but she doesn’t have a choice so she reaches out to him for help. Finally face-to-face after having already formed a soul-deep bond in hell, their emotional connection is even more powerful than their telepathic one. Nathan refuses to consider ever letting her go again, but she worries they can never have a life free of the dangers that dog her every step. He’ll protect her with his every breath, but can he convince her that they are meant to face these threats together?

Giveaway: Your choice of one book from Maya’s backlist and a $25 gift card from Amazon!

Welcome Sasha White!

I’m the baker in our family. My mom always says Nana’s baking skills skipped a generation, and it’s true. While Mom can bake if she wanted to, she hates it, so never does. Me? I love baking, but I really only do a lot of it around christmas because it brings back such fond memories of baking with my Nana when I was growing up. Yes, I think cookies = love, and I always include a tin of treats for my family members with their gifts.

She passed away seven years ago, but I still think of her every christmas, especially when I try to make shortbread and it fails. :(

However, my family is never disappointed because I’m able to give them things like this christmas favorite. It’s super easy to make, and so very very yummy. I hope you try it.

12 Days of Smutketeer Xmas-Day Four
by R.G. Alexander on Dec 10th, 2011 132 Comments »

Welcome Kate Pearce!

How many extra wings does a turkey have?

Firstly, thanks so much to the Smutketeers for having me on the blog today to celebrate the Holidays with them and some of their other awesome guests. I thought I’d share a story about a Christmas from when I was a child that sums up both the best and the worst of my father. He died quite a long time ago, but this story always makes me smile.
I was the fourth girl in a family of six girls and money was tight, so Christmas was always a stretch for my parents. One year, when I was about eight or nine, we came back from church and my mum got busy cooking the Christmas turkey while my dad, in typical Irish Catholic fashion, detoured down the pub for a pint with his friends.
Time went by, and we were all ready to eat, but there was no sign of my father. Now this was in the days before cell phones, so there was no option but to wait, or go and get him and no one really wanted to do that. I could see my mum getting cross and muttering about everything spoiling, and then suddenly my dad appeared with a young man in tow. A man we had never seen before, who looked quite uncomfortable to be dragged into a houseful of women!
My mum and dad retired into the kitchen ‘to talk’ and I happily eavesdropped. My mum wanted to know who on earth the man was, and what he was doing in our house. My dad simply said, “He was all alone on Christmas day, so I invited him back for dinner. I couldn’t leave him in the pub.” That silenced my mum who immediately began to work out the math of how she was going to make the turkey stretch for another adult. So he stayed for Christmas dinner, and after he got over his shyness, he turned out to be a lovely man.
And that sums up my dad for you, totally generous to complete strangers and totally oblivious to the effect of such generosity on my poor mother. I won’t even go into the disastrous night when he decided to fill the stockings instead of my mum, got it all wrong, and got caught in a Santa trap and nearly broke his nose…
Have a great Holiday Season!
Love, Kate Pearce xxx

Unforgettable Pleasure

Ally Kendal knows returning to her hometown to sell her mother’s house isn’t going to be easy. She left in disgrace years ago and hasn’t been back since. But she’s never forgotten the one man who awakened in her a secret yearning for wildly erotic sexual pleasure…

Undeniable Desire

Rob Ward is surprised at the surge of desire he feels when he first sees Ally after all this time. He’s gotten over the betrayal he felt when he found her and his best friend together on the eve of his wedding, but it’s obvious he’s never given up wanting her. And now that she’s back he’ll show her what she’s missed, how good he makes her feel, how easy it is for him to take control and bring her to the edge of sweet surrender…

Funny Papers

When I was growing up we didn’t have very much money. I was always reminded that we had way more than a heck of a lot of the world, and my parents were right. I had everything I needed, including great parents.

So, we didn’t have many luxuries or extras, including pretty wrapping paper at Christmas. So for as long as I can remember, my parents, especially my dad, would wrap presents in the comics from the Sunday paper.

It’s been a very long time since then, but he still wraps presents in newspaper and every time I see those boxes it takes me back. They’re good memories. Cooler still, they sometimes wrap presents for my kids in newspaper too so my children will have those memories (without all the emotional stuff about not having exactly what everyone else had).

So here’s to the moms and dads who use what they have to make the holidays the best possible for their families. And here’s to Dave and Linda for being the best parents any kid could have ever wanted.

Giveaway: To celebrate the season, I’ll give away digital copies of TO DO LIST and SWEET CHARITY – two holiday set novellas to one winner. So happy whatever-you-celebrate from me to you!

TO DO LIST:

Since she could pick up a pencil, Belle Taylor has used lists and charts to map out her life. When she achieves a goal, she marks it off her to do list. Simple. But now, just steps away from her corner-office, name-on-the-letterhead goal, she realizes that the life she thought she wanted may come at too high a price.

Exhausted, she retreats home for Christmas vacation to rethink her life, complete with all-new lists. What she hadn’t expected is Rafe Bettencourt, her brother’s best friend, the man who she thought only saw her as a pesky younger sister. But when he kisses her under the mistletoe, Belle finds herself with a whole new set of goals to balance with what she thought she always wanted.

Rafe knows Belle is trying to figure out what to do with her life. He also knows he’s done loving her from afar, and he’s not beneath making it as hard as possible for her to choose to return to San Francisco.

Because Rafe can make to-do lists too—and his plan is to seduce Belle back home where she belongs. At his side. And in his bed.

SWEET CHARITY

Charity Harris has finally got a taste of handsome bad boy and lifelong friend, Gabriel Bettencourt after eight years of pretending a horrible one night stand never happened. Trouble is, he’s persisting with his story about not wanting a relationship and not being good enough for her.

Gabriel has ached to make Charity his for many years now and having her in his bed, willing and not flinching away from his darker urges is more than he’d ever imagined it could be. But Charity needs candlelight, not candle wax and he didn’t have the kind of soul she needed in a husband. But he’d be a fool to turn down the offer of a short term fling so he could have his fill until it was time to move on.

Charity can’t be managed and Gabriel finds less and less resistance to her insistence that good girls can still be naughty and bad boys like him can still be gentle and loving when the time was right.

When he runs away to think things over on New Year’s Eve, she follows. Gabriel is about to find out that even sweet girls have their limits.

Welcome Robin L. Rotham!

The most evocative element of the holidays, for me, is scent. Evergreens, bayberry and cranberry; fresh-baked bread, pies and cookies; yams, cranberries and roasted turkey or ham… Ah, there’s just nothing better than coming home to delicious smells like these! (Well, except cuddling up with a hot guy or two after you come home to smells like these.)

One of my favorite holiday recipes takes that traditional homepun scent to the next level — my grandmother’s hot cinnamon punch not only smells heavenly, but it tastes fantastic, it warms you from the inside out, and it’s alcohol-free so the kids can enjoy it, too!

Hot Cinnamon Punch

2 quarts water
2 cups sugar
1 7-12 oz bag cinnamon hard candies (unwrapped, of course)
2 cups orange juice
1 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 large bottle cranberry juice

Boil sugar and candy together in the water until dissolved, then add juices and simmer. Serve and enjoy!

Giveaway: A copy of Carnal Compromise or any one of my books, print or ebook, with no geographical restrictions. Wishing blissful holidays to you all!
